i think the biggest reaosn he stoped rapping is cuz he was never rly respected as one even at his highest as a rapper, he was always kind've the butt of the joke to some, like being the black rapper only white people listen to BUT when he start singing and doing other genres, that's when the respect came, the Coachella headline came, grammys game, stadium tour came, etc. easy

Donald Glover is an extremely talented artist. He should have taken that Drake shit to the grave. The thing about Childish Gambino is he was ahead of his time. This was the time period where so many where on the fence about acts that didn't fit into your typical hip hop category, think Odd Future. I'll go as far as to say Summer Camp would be a multi platinum album if released today. I couldn't imagine putting out something so dope for critics to pick it apart berate it only to double back and label it a classic. His second and third album were also not well received. I mean shit he was on Hot 97 freestyle on how they don't fuck with him. I cant say I would be in love with rap either.
