With how his final season has kinda sucked, I figured a dominant Gordon would be nice to see..

I will say, though that those Doug Yates engines are still the prominent/ primary ones for the Ford teams in NASCAR to this day!

Got worse when they were running the road course so I’m super happy that they are doing the 2024 brickyard 400 finally hoping that the tires hold, but this year has been unpredictable with those GoodYears.

Five brickyard 400 championships, including the most recent one before he retired from racing, which also includes the 2014 victory.

Those mid-late GEN four cars were fucking beasts, being so aerodynamic and the packages were awesome. The sound of them is second to none & they could routinely get speeds of 200+ unrestricted @ Indianapolis, Michigan, & Atlanta, along w/ so many other tracks, without any limits in horsepower, which restrict the RPMs in current-day NASCAR. I’m just really/ wishing they could find a way with the 3 current manufacturers to get better race products on the track!

A bit of a scare for the #24 at the end, running over the debris but they still pulled off the win.

I was at this race during a family reunion, and is still my only race I've been to, and my favorite driver won, went to all of the events during race week, got autographs, pictures etc., it was awesome and one of the best moments in my life. Best memory is Terry Labonte stopping right in front of where we were sitting in turn 1.

+Anthony Kernich Yes, Jeff was a Latford system(old system guy), Jeff learned to race for championships under the old system which taught finishes, points, and winning. The Chase system is almost the antithesis of it, it punishes consistency(it takes that to win it), hurts drivers that are good finishers(Gordon and Kenseth are the two that come to mind), and helps drivers that were having subpar seasons and aren't strong finishers. It messed with a lot of drivers stats, another is Jamie McMurray who if the old system were still here would be a top 10 driver.
@downnice95
@downnice95 8 жыл бұрын
+Anthony Kernich The chase is bullshit and the new one they have right now is a absolute joke. They only introduced this in the first place because people bitched Kenseth won the 03 championship with only 1 win but in 2014 Newman almost the championship with zero victories. Jeff Gordon was royally screwed over by this system in in both 04 and 07 at least I mean (still ranting) if they wanted to change the system and yet have it be far, then do this if you finish in the top 25 in the race you score points, if you finish outside top 25 you do not score a point 25th place = 1 point 1st place = 50 points simple solution that would be better than this stupid fucking chase format!

its happened again as well to Harvick and Logano - Both of those two had 28 top 10's and they lose a driver who missed 11 races ......................... (and I'm not even a Logano fan, but he deserved to fight)

The ONLY top tier NASCAR race I ever went to and being a Gordon fan, was quite a sight and experience! Was in the tower terrace watching them go from right to left. Was better than my previous years experience at Milwaukee mile where it was constant noise all the time. Brickyard they all scream by and could hear them in the distance and see on all the monitors.

From 2001-2007, NASCARs prime IMO. FOX and really NBC, took the TV broadcast to a new level. Just watching the first two minutes of this makes it feel like a big event. They don't even try anymore.

Indeed, thank you from us Gordon fans. If he hasn't been getting screwed by random crap like yesterday at the Glen or at Indy, he's screwing himself over (Martinsville and Dega). It's pretty painful to watch, and I keep telling my wife I can't wait until he's done so I can watch without fear about being angry at where Jeff finishes. lol

You don't think having a decent run spoiled by mechanical trouble "screwed"? He didn't get screwed by someone, rather than something. *shrugs* Just crappy luck at the end of the day, though.

Yep, I would say Tony got screwed too. When a $10 part spoils an otherwise successful day, then yes, it is most definitely a screw job, IMO.

Yep. 2004,2007,2014 all would've been Gordon's championships under the old points system, giving him 7 . The chase definitely ruined the sport . DNF"s don't even matter anymore. Sad...

2:29:02 Why wasn't Robby Gordon penalized for pitting outside the box?
@michael575538
@michael575538 6 жыл бұрын
He might have been, but they never mentioned it. I think it was for the best either way being that his tire was on fire and you don't want to park close to the pit wall. If I were NASCAR I would be more interested in why the gas man thought it was a good idea to begin fueling before the fire was out.
@jessemullen9083
@jessemullen9083 6 жыл бұрын
True haha. I only know he wasn't penalized, because he never went a lap down. He never lined up on the inside and never got the free pass, but he finished in 22nd on the lead lap
@jessemullen9083
@jessemullen9083 6 жыл бұрын
What I'd really like to know now is; why did everyone keep going past pit road with the flat left fronts? Were they trying to not get sent to the end of the longest line, or were they trying to lead laps? BP said something about collecting money. (Also, Sterling should've learned his lesson from the 2003 New England 300 lol.)
@michael575538
@michael575538 6 жыл бұрын
Why anyone would want to drive a car with a tire on it's rim around a 2 and a half mile race track is beyond me. Just bite the bullet and get sent to the back. Gordon was lucky it didn't do any apparent damage, but he still lost positions on the track not to mention on pit road.
