I work at GA and every month they have a “rides party” where they pretty much have 3 rides open after hours just for employees… This is the last month we will have it and the three rides are, Ka, Green Lantern, and Twister. Definitely feels like a final goodbye

I remember hearing that Intamin had made a bid on TT2 but wanted to expand the layout but Cedar Point didn’t want to sacrifice any rides for the space. Maybe Intimins bid went to Great Adventure and Green Lantern will be the sacrifice to the new King.

Yes they have the room to do a rear spike. However, they ain't going to use Zamperla lol. Yes, Intamin again. I don't think GL be will scrapped. It will be relocated to another park as a sitdown. I have a hunch B&M has a solution with a vest restraint and a way to lower the height requirement. This Penguin Trek train got me thinking.

0:47 “the park would never do this” lets take a moment of silence for Volcano, operated for a month, then closed the rest of the season, and at the end the park announced it would close. No send off, no final rides (btw they treat Hypersonic XLC the same way, it operated for 2007 then it was gone for 2008 no final rides, no ceremony, just demolition. So yeah, you are correct in saying parks will just shut it down without all the drama.

Not gonna lie, if Kingda Ka gets removed, I'm not gonna be at Great Adventure for maybe another decade. There's just much better parks, and if I'm only really going for El Toro, its not going to be high up on my bucket list. This coaster is so iconic, and is basically a tourist destination. The fact how they aren't even announcing this is insane. Maybe we were too harsh on the Six Flags management. Not only that, but Kingda Ka is so unique. As cool as it would be to have an RMC or B&M giga, I just feel like that isn't good enough of a replacement. Maybe we'd be talking if it were a T-Rex, or even maybe another Intamin Giga. That is if they tear Ka down, obviously.

From what I've heard, the orange color of the markings indicates underground electrical work. Not construction or demolition. Maybe they are looking into redoing the power sources for Kingda ka and Green lantern.

One thing that intrigued me is a message from one local. They claim that some of the park’s antenna/communication hardware is in the parachute tower. Orange markings mean communication line work. He thinks they may possibly be planning new com lines so they can demolish the parachute tower. Is KK and GL still on the chopping block if they end up making it past this offseason? With the new management, yes, they may as well be going with the parachute tower if what was said is true. It’s just something that caught my eye and would make sense if that ends up being the case.

I forgot to say that Zamperla is not doing well this year. At my home park they add a famiiar ride named Go Go Bounce and like 5 times a day broke down, resets itself and ppl have to wait. Not mentioning the situation where the lap bar got stuck and employees have to release it by putting a metal piece and releasing it manually. New ride after 9 years. Such a pain in the 4ss

A couple years ago, a bunch of orange markers suddenly appeared at SFMM on Samurai Summit near Superman and the abandoned Laughing Dragon restaurant. People started predicting the demise of Superman, which was already aging and rarely operating. While not nearly as iconic or even as good of a ride as Kingda Ka, it was still a concern to a lot of park fans. As it turned out, they were just comm markers for the new 5G WiFi towers the park put up. Does that mean that Great Adventure isn’t really removing Ka? Not necessarily, but I am just sharing a similar situation that happened across the country at the flagship sister park. Great channel and video Colin!

That one is near twister which is going to leave and I saw a few by Lateran. When you go near ka or ever just past that white marker at the entrance there are only red ones. There is also 3 that form a triangle where a spike would go for a conversion like top thrill. I believe lantern and twister will be taken down but ka will be overhauled with a back spike

Survey markers. Each number represents the station on the set of plans. Looks like they just recently surveyed those areas. If I had to guess, these 2 coasters will be safe for 1 more season. Putting together engineered plans is not something that can be done overnight.

The township of Jackson nj seems to like great adventure and think about how fast they got approved for flash last minute. The second their plans are ready enough to show off these rides are out. Almost zero Ka merch, two train ops, 6F/CF executives onsite, markers only around Ka and Green Lantern. I’ve heard multiple reports of a crane arriving onsite Sunday evening, which I missed. I hope I’m wrong, but these things are not normal and given the totality of all these nuggets of information point to it being a more likely outcome.

Half of that stuff is how ka is always, they 90 percent of the time only run two trains and there has always been a small amount of merch. Those markers are orange meaning they’re for communication and wires,and I highly doubt any of that other stuff happened

I can see Green Lantern being dismantled and shipped to another park that could use a B&M coaster whether it remains a stand-up or converted to a floorless without announcing it and not caring too much, but shutting down the parks 2 largest attractions without announcing it would be a big mistake on the park's behalf and possibly lose over half of their guests and passholders. I honestly think Kingda Ka and Zumanjaro will be around for at least another season before they make a decision on what to do with it.

If anything, I believe Zumanjaro closes without warning but Ka stays for another few years. I can see Green Lantern and Zumanjaro going this year. I keep saying it, but removing Kingda Ka this year would be a HUGE mistake. Edit: If they do end up removing both Ka and Green Lantern, I really do believe an Extreme Spinner or Stryker coaster would be the only models to live up to its hype, and even then maybe not by much unless they’d go all out

I think that they would have to put something massive in its place. When these two go (because it’s inevitable at this stage) they will only have a supporting cast of rides and we need a main event. I think that it would be great if we could see it for one more year and get a revamp/ new ride for its 20th anniversary, but I don’t think cedar fair wants to do that. We can only hope it stays but it seems like cedar fair might be removing it because they had it in competition against dragster for so many years and want to turn the page. I am praying ka stays open

With this whole thing going on with Ka, I'm curious how the future of Xcelerator is looking like. I know Xcelerator is 3 times smaller than Ka but it still uses the hydraulic launch system. Just my opinion, if the deconstruction stretches into next season, and given Ka's size it could, Superman could be closed for a part of the season for safety reasons. It's well within the zone should a crane loose control of a piece of Ka.

This is evident across every FUN closure since the PR failure of Geauga Lake, and that one was close to home for current management(CF HQ not far from Aurora. OH). My theory in terms of removal is either yearly operating costs and or perhaps it's facing large updates. CF (SF now) spent a fair amount of money and time refurbishing Accelerator. If Ka is in need of such capital maybe it's far easier to pull the plug vs moving forward. I wonder what the impact to the park attendance will be if Ka is removed. When TTD was shutdown, it had next to 0 impact on attendance. Making their yearly maintenance ROI 0. SF has to make these parks profitable and if the cost per rider exceeds what they feel make viable business sense new SF Mangement will remove the ride. They won't be following the previous SF model. If you look at the last 14 years or so, CF removed many attractions across a good chunk of their parks where rides no longer fit into their business plan.

I agree that dragsters costs were extremely high (I was at a Q&A back in early 200's where Montey Jasper stated was the case). The previous CEO Dick Kinzel stated that it was one of his top regrets. As my home park, I wasn't a big fan of the ride due to it's down time. However, I felt it provided a much better ride experience than Ka. I am trying to understand what factors might be taking place as to why the company would be looking to remove the ride?

@ColiwoodStudios You know how Cedar Fair decided to extend top thrill dragster by adding additional launch hill? What if they are planning on doing the same to Kingda Ka? I mean, you mentioned no markings around the kingda Ka station, so what if they keep the station but may end up combining Kingda Ka and Green Lantern together, making it all one coaster by modifying them? I could be wrong!

That would be near impossible and wouldn't even work right. They will have to add hella trim brakes from going 128 down to like 60 or 50 to navigates Green lantern layout.

@@johnnytest9355that is not true. . The way intamin can work a tight spot is insane and that plot of land isn’t even tight and intamin doesn’t have bulky track like B&M. Parks are too advanced to not be able to do what they do. Trust me it can get done.

@Extremethrills It was just a theory, all though if it could be possible, it would have been a unique experience going up the hill and then over the track layout of green lantern. Only time will tell what they have in mind🙂 I tried to find the width or the track guage for both Kingda Ka and Green Lantern, but could not find them anywhere.
