We have since received official confirmation from Six Flags Great Adventure that Kingda Ka has closed for good. It gave its last rides the weekend after we visited, and will not operate again. We are super sad to hear it truly is over, but are so thankful we got to experience it one last time. Rip Ka. It’s an extremely a sad time to be in the coaster industry when realizing that the current tallest coaster and also one of the most iconic coasters in the world is nearing the end of its service life. It’s likely going to be saddest coaster removal we’ll ever see happening since Volcano’s removal 6 years ago in 2018.

As an enthusiast in China, I've always felt with this coaster... The first time I discovered Kingda Ka was back in elementary school when I was just 8, when I read about it in a library book called "The Science of Amusement Parks". I didn’t know much about roller coasters at the time, but I knew that Ka is the tallest one in the world, it became my dream ride immediately. A few years later, when I became an official coaster enthusiast at 13, I learned more about coasters, and Kingda Ka stayed at the top of my bucket list. I actually visited the U.S. in 2015, but due to time constraints, I couldn’t make it to New Jersey. Needless to say, it’s not easy to travel from Beijing in China to the U.S., so I still haven’t had the chance to experience Ka. I’ve always dreamed of organizing another trip to the U.S. with my friends years later to finally ride this legendary and iconic coaster. But now, with the closure rumors, it seems like it may just not be meant to be. It’s really SAD 😢

It's such a shame. I really only became an enthusiast around last summer when I rode Hyperia for the first time and I was just blown away by this world. I've always faintly known that 'the tall green coaster in America is the tallest in the world' and now that Ive come to grips with just how legendary this ride is as I learn more and more about roller coasters its so unfortunate to see it go. Kingda ka truly is a one of a kind coaster: never again will we see roller coasters being built for their height purely and just to say that a record was broken. Kingda Ka was what the Concorde was to the aviation industry. I'm so sad that I'll never be able to ride this thing - but at least we have stealth over here in the UK, not like that can compare but it is what it is. Long live rides that break boundaries like this one does.

I'm an enthusiast from the UK. For literal decades I'd dreamed of getting on Ka, and last year my buddy and I did a US road trip to 4 parks (Cedar, Busch Williamsburg, Kings Dominion and SF GA). Finally riding Ka was one of the most surreal moments of my life, we only hit it twice before it closed for the entire day which was lucky. Knowing it's almost certainly about to close is a crazy thought - I'm so relieved that I was able to experience it. It's like Stealth but on steroids, I'll never forget that launch. Hate to see that it's about to shut, but so happy I'm not sat here devastated that I'll never get to hit it. Truly outrageous ride, in my top 10 simply because of its extremity and raw power. RIP Ka, and RIP the dying breed that is Intamin's hydraulic launch coasters.

Same here. Never got to do TTD and now Ka is closing too so that's gone from the bucket list, it sucks. Hydraulic launch coasters really are a dying breed. Stealth is great and has an amazing launch but I really wanted to get on these 400ft monster ones...I guess there is still Red Force for height but it's an LSM and they don't have that same punch. Formula Rossa is also closed for the foreseeable future and who knows what is happening with that. Do DoDonpa is another one that's gone too that was on my bucket list (even though it was compressed air).
@GakpoliceАй бұрын
@iitzfizz I'm with you completely. TTD was closed when we went, not yet under re-development. It hurt standing next to it knowing I couldn't get on, and actually Maverick was shut both of those days which is why I'm gonna return in the next 24 months. Do DoDonpa always fascinated me, kinda knew I'd never get to experience it. But to get on one of Ka/TTD was a blessing, Stealth actually has the fastest launch in the world now so thats something. I was there end of October and it still amazes me. I think these launches are unfortunately gonna be gone forever in a few years, I doubt stealth will survive long in the 2030s. Gotta enjoy that and Rita while we can I guess

When we ride our favourite coasters with those we love and cherish and share irreplaceable happy memories, it becomes more than just a coaster, it becomes almost spiritual hallowed ground for the treasured times we spent with those we care about most. This was such an unexpected video but i think it is your most poignant, it gets to the heart of why coasters and theme parks are so very special in our core memories.

Those of you who have gotten to ride Ka are very lucky I live a thousand miles from SFGA. So I have never ridden it. Also, I never got to ride Top Thrill Dragster and now Cedar Fair has ruined it. Wow!!! 😡😡😡

You guys also have me in tears watching this. SFGA is my home park. I work about 30 minutes from it and have had season passes in the past. I'm fortunate to have ridden Ka many times and will hold on to those amazing memories. It will surely be missed but here's to hoping they have an exciting replacement planned.

Being upset that a parks iconic ride is being removed is 100% valid. I wish I was able to go to Six Flags AstroWorld one last time before it was demolished as that was my home park and corporate greed/selfishness caused them to close and demolish amazing rides

The reason why y’all think the ride is in worse shape is because they’re just not maintaining anymore. It’s been rolling back a ton to even in warm weather. It wasn’t like this during the summer.

Had no clue this was closing! I rode it for the first time last summer with my sister and it was an absolute blast. My first and only launch coaster as of yet, sad to see it potentially close. My family went to Great Adventure all the time when I was a kid. I still vividly remember the first time seeing the massive tower when it opened in 2005. I was only 9 years old at the time. As soon as you crossed the overpass into the park, it hit you. My whole family was speechless. Almost 20 years later and I still laugh to myself when I see the size of the tower while driving into the park. Nothing else like it, and it will be missed!

My son and I visited Great Adventure in early August and we got to ride Kingda Ka for the first (and it seems last) time! While we were a bit underwhelmed, and ultimately both like the mini version Xcelerator better, we still liked it and both had that crazy sense of terror a 400'+ ride gives you. SFGA will have to put something amazing in to replace it or the place will be lacking in drawing power. We flew out there from LA just to ride Ka and El Toro! Do something big and amazing with that space!

Congrats on your biggest clickbait video to date. All these rumors started from an unreliable reddit source, and without confirmation from Six Flags / Cedar Fair, they're still rumors - no matter what kind of reliable sources you think you have. Every theme park content creator that made one of these "It's going away!" videos will lose a chunk of credibility from this.

We never heard about this initially from Reddit. In fact, none of our sources come from just random coaster enthusiasts. We can promise all of our intel has been coming from reliable people. We are fully aware we would lose credibility if it isn’t true. We wouldn’t do this if we weren’t confident.
@zappavai02Ай бұрын
I have a reliable source telling me it's closed for the rest of the year and will be re-open in spring of 2025. It's getting a make over, new paint job, long overdue with additional repairs, entrance being redone. They're already promoting 2025 season pass with the ride as it's headline.

DAMN IT!!! I had a trip planned back in 2020 to go on this one (amongst many others, from Australia), but then COVID. So everything was cancelled, and I haven't had the chance to rebook my trip because it took so much time to begin with, and life has happened since then, so I'm so sad that I'll miss it. Was planning perhaps 2027-28, but alas, I've missed my opportunity. As for Green Lantern as a stand up, it was just like Mantis at Cedar Point - I got to travel over and ride it as a stand up in 1996, and then again as a floorless Rougarou in 2015. Nice vid guys.

Unfortunately, I went to SFGAdv when I was 7 in 2007, too short to ride. Then made a trip to ride this when I was 12, it was closed due to Drop of Doom... I never got to make another trip. I live 4 hours away, but can't mangle finances to make it out. I cried thinking I will never get to ride my #1 Bucket List Coaster.
