This came up in my recommended in the December of 2019 and it was the very thing that made me buy this game. I linked it to all my friends and encouraged them to do the same but they had already heard about all the bugs and thought I was wasting my money. Solid months and months of playing later and I now have the platinum trophy along with all the DLC at 100% with countless playthroughs of the game and very strong memories. Here in the UK when we have the full 7 month lockdown I really went to a weird place and if I didn't have this game to distract me through it it could have been a lot worse. I'm on my second playthrough on hardcore and something cool and unusual happened. I started the duel and after two hits I accidentally headcracked him. So the duel ended instantly (but Zoul was alive!). I looted his armor before he went back on his feet and he surrendered. I felt sorry for him so I chose to let him go. He accepted to never come back but he said "other Zouls than me will come!" I followed him and he rode to the north pass Skalitz and to the upper corner of the map. I then reported to Radzig and told him I beaten Zoul and let him go. He was quite happy I acted honorably.

Once Henry gets good at fighting, the swordplay in this game actually flows really well and is super fun. Sadly I don't think most people have the patience for that.

@@chickenman1801 My Henry used nothing but a longsword for the entire game, except for some stealthy clearing of bandit camps right near the beginning. I spent like an hour each session training with Captain Bernard and got really good. I slowly got better armor by looting bandits and buying armor. By the end I was a absolute unit and was regularly clearing entire Cuman camps without breaking a sweat. It's the most satisfying feeling I've ever gotten playing a game because I'd actually earned all the skills I had.

The only things KCD could've improved on in my opinion would've been making NPCs less stiff, letting you create your own character, and smoothing out the combat animations.

i picked up this game two days ago and i had my fist ambush while fast traveling. two fully armored tartars with shields and i had no head protection and Thumper (one of the worst longswords in the game-i found that out after the encounter) with a bit of back peddaling and some perfect counters i managed to beat them. up until that moment my greatest achivement was killing four bunnies with a bow (i used up 50+ arrows). what an amazing game.

I remember one playtrough in which I went full light armour, and this duel with Zoul was the hardest 1v1 I had. I needed an almost perfect performance, for he reacts much better than most enemies and I died many times to his counters. When you have no plates on you, it's quite easy to get injured and bleed. Still I remember it with great joy.

One thing I learned in KCD that was most important, is to not rush a fight. I used to use all my energy and try to strike them, but no, take your time and make the right coordinates moves. No other game has given me such a level of satisfaction.

Yeah but that will be very hard to do. Dev said there are already roughly 2000 animations for each weapon (!!)...now imagine adding more moves. This is also the reason why polearms in this games looks so bad compare to the rest of the weaponry. They ran out of money and time.

@@tdollars8052 Thank you for your answer. Going to Pribyslawitz is good only after you complete (amost) all available sidequests. By that time you should be skilled enough. But training with bandits and Bernard (repeatedly) will also give you many possibilities. It is harder to do it on "Merciful" If you want an advice, use open helmet and shield+hammer combo. Works great and while there is not too much techniques to do with it, it beats out the hell of all those plated bastards fast :D

@@ganggang3873 i realize you commented this 3 months ago but i wanted to clear up what i meant, i agreed with mr miyagi but now that ive played it more i now realize its not totally awful, its pretty gud and gucci actually but im not a huge fan of the extreme slow pacing and the constant "go here do this, but OoH nOoOO, that wasnt it, is it this??? no? oh well how about this?" that might not make sense to people who read this but i know what i mean, I get its trying to be like that and people enjoy that kind of game and theres nothing wrong with that its just way to much in my opinion, !!spoilers!!: for example that hunting mission where you have to go with lord capon and run along side him while he rides on a horse, as its not that terribly long i still dont want to have to take all that time to run to a certain checkpoint which takes like 5 minutes which still isnt that long but feels really long while just to get to the camp to talk to the bastard and wait even more after that to get all the rabbits until i cant even jog just to wait even more then give the rabbits to lord capon just to run along side his fecking horse again to hunt a boar and then he runs off so i have to go get him which is literally in my opinion the only fun part of that whole damn mission when you kill the cumans...like goddamn dude. it does have really nice ideas with the story and i like how you can do so many different things like learn how to read and how the combat works and shit so ill give it that tldr: it aint complete hot ass since ive played it more but dont like how slow paced it is.

I saw this video before and thinking to myself, "That's a pretty good fight, but man the mechanics are so realistic it kinda sucks." Well, banish the thought, Past Me! Because I just got the game about a week ago and binge-played it until the base game ended. Just completed it about 2 hours ago, the combat can be SO satisfying at times. But what had me the most was the trebuchet at the near end of the game. Honestly KC:D is such a good game, don't know why I've been avoiding it for so long. When the epilogue started I didn't want the game to end, felt like I could play forever, guess that means I'll be getting the DLC's, especially Band of Bastards, can't wait to duel this guy. I played Band of Bastards couple times, but always passed the speech check so Baron Kuno didnt take the bribe from Hagen so both bands attack each other in the end. I didnt know I can actually duel with Hagen head on .. wow, I should reload the save and try out different convo options and duel with all weapon types, longsword seems the most difficult :) Wonder if you can beat him with just wooden bludgeon. Zero chance I am sure :)

I dont play games but this one somehow poped up in my recommendations and those graphics completely mesmerized me, I watched whole story as gameplay and it was better then movie, guy which played it was funny but no skill in fighting at all, I knew you can get better in this game and now I see it in this video, its fucking realistic, I have no seen such realistic sword fight in game, there are many kind like Assassins creed with super funcy choreography in animations but it has nothing to do with reality, this is different, simple and it has realy strong atmosphere.

If you convince the mercenaries to stay, then everyone fights everyone so it's up to you (and chance) whether you will end up fighting Zoul or not. Remember to loot Zoul for his armor set (probably the best armor in game) and loot all of his men because one of them has the 6000 Groschen which were meant for bribing Kuno.

Not so realistic. A sword would make no damage against that armor. That’s why swords were rarely used on the battlefield, they would rather break or damaged than hurting the opponent. Other weapons were much more useful than swords. Swords were good against enemies without armor.

Well he did take a lot of beating, also with the pommel before he went down. That’s rather realistic. In a real fight though, they would use murder strokes and grappling.

(Like the Arya vs Brienne for example) As it turns out, real fights are just about swinging swords on one another until someone will make a one small mistake and die. That's boring. No, it isn't actually. Real swordfights ended very quickly, and armored fights also typically ended quickly as they would use maces and polearms, rather than longswords. HEMA for example. Most swords fights end really quickly, and there's a lot of extreme, intense stuff. Watch some HEMA duels.

Not even Sir Arthur Dayne would stand a chance against a 15th century REAL knight, because Sowrd fights in GOT may look fancy, but they are not realistic. The way those characters fight would get them killed in the real medieval period. Anyone who knows what HEMA is will think the same

If Kingdom was really realistic, they should let us using and carry polearm... because historical, pole weapons were the primary weapons. I add, swords were useless against armors (unless you hit not covered spots)

It is realistic. But, it is deformed by the time which passed since then. As the game described, almost no one was literate during medieval age. Only a few between nobility, monks, priests and a few scribes and merchants were able to read. That however means, there are no records or manuals for using weapons other than swords. Those were well documented in books, as nobles were able to purchase them. However weapons such as polearm were not for nobles, which were riding on horse, they had swords and spears, so there was no demand for expensive books. The game does not represent the horseback fights well either, which is for another reason - it is impossible to fit 2 actors on horses inside the 3D recording gear. So not only historical knowledge limits the developers, but also advances in technology.
