Years later, even after the release of KH3... this comment holds true. So much about this fight is just gorgeous. Sora and Riku finally fighting side by side, Xemnas being as awe inspiring and intimidating all in one, the music, the realm of nothing between light and darkness... this fight to me is still one of the best final boss fights I’ve ever experienced ever.

If they changed it so that if your heartless and your Nobody dies then you die forever then this game would've been the perfect ending. Ansem was already destroyed in the first game so Xehanort's heartless is gone then after Xemnas dies Xehanort is no longer a threat. If you also ignore the spin-off games that came after KH2 then the ending still holds up. This would give greater weight to Roxas's storyline because if he died during any point Sora would have been gone forever since his heartless died in KH1. Riku turned good, Roxas found peace, and Axel died in peace having helped the light. If you exclude the scene where they get a letter from Mickey and the secret ending then it's a satisfying ending. There was honestly no need to continue after this game.

This battle is really good and all but it's like way too hard on proud on og kh2 I just beat my proud file from like 2015 that I never finished which I tried right after beating my standard file and it was on this boss and HOLY CRAP IS IT HARD to be fair I was level 43 on that save so apparently I was majorly underleveled although I of course leveled a bit because of the previous parts of the battle so I was more like level 45 or 46 but this legit took me 9 HOURS TO BEAT NON STOP like it was insane I wanted to give up so many times but when I finally did it it was amazing. Definitely one of the best final bosses in a game ever.

The part that I'm having the most trouble with is where Sora is getting his health drained and you take control of Riku, I keep getting "Guard!" and a butt whooping from Xemnus... I commend the dude for not giving up easily but like, bruh just stop and take a dang breather will you.
