Er, I mean the plot's request. Vanitas would have died if the plot didn't prevent Aqua acting after seeing Vanitas use his first firaga burst instead of just standing there idly (much like what happened with Terranort, and the poor execution of that scene is laughable), or stop her from using her barrier rather than welcoming the flames with open arms. Vanitas would have died if he didn't turn into such a dishonorable wuss with zero pride (and I obviously mean the stunt he pulled here, which proved nothing other than that he was losing).

Some people are complaining that Aqua shouldn't need to be saved in this scene while I am unbothered. I thought it was justified why she needed to be saved in this scene. Just like what Sora said, she hasn't recovered yet. I mean, this scene was so epic that I wasn't even bothered. I was crying so much when Ventus was finally awake! I agree she kinda went a bit of a 'badass decay' in this game but I still thought she was a badass regardlessly. Besides, Kairi is the guilty one for that. (I blame Tetsuya Nomura for that...)

She got zero victories this game. She literally doesn't even TRY to block or use her barrier ( despite that she could use it freely in gameplay throughout this whole fight) which isn't justifiably excused by her simply being fatigued. She contributed *nothing* to the plot beyond restoring the LoD. She conveniently lost her Keyblade off screen (which isn't even explained) because the writers couldn't come up with a reason for her to lose to Ansem SoD, and so that Sora (not Riku or Mickey) could come save her. The point is they were actively stripping her of any level of spotlight or shine this whole game. And for what? Her beating Vanitas would've been a great moment for her character and actually allowed her to protect at least ONE person in this game, but she didn't (even though she *was* winning, otherwise Vanitas wouldn't have done what he did). What was gained from that? 5 second drama that amounted to Ventus waking up (which would've happened anyway), and... Nothing. Vanitas just runs away after admitting that they had him beat, and after that stunt, proved he had no dignity or grace to walk away when he was outmatched (like he did in BBS). She gets turned into anti aqua, spouts literal lies for a good 3 minutes, tries to kill the *very* people she JUST told Ansem would come to rescue her, and that all gets dissmised. Her diologue to Riku and Mickey later on contradicts and disproves everything she said as Anti Aqua (making the whole plotline pointless). Nothing was gained. They just wanted to keep her out of the plot so the two Keyblade Masters who were actually equipped to save her, would fail and *Sora* (who didn't even remember her) could come in to save the day. And this was the excuse we're supposed to buy for her loss here? Even though it meant litterally NOTHING.

This. Funny how her barrier works perfectly fine in gameplay, yet here she doesn't even ATTEMPT to block with so much as her Keyblade (even opening up her arms)! Just....why? That's less because she was weak, and more because of forced writing giving her the short end of the stick at every moment in this game.

@@nekuja4426 So she didn't expect Vanitas (or Sora by extension) to attack the barrier specifically put up to keep Vanitas in and Sora out? How does the barrier crack when Vanitas attacks it in the first place when it was able to keep SDG out the entire fight (including after she got knocked down)? She's fighting to protect Ventus first and foremost, anyone would have logically expected her to consider the possibility of the second line of defense being struck when you're having a *battle* within it (and again, it wasn't phased for the entirety of the gameplay segment of the fight, nor was Sora able to phase it at any point either).

Everyone was upset with this but I just saw this as aqua being her selfless-self. Putting ven above herself, and she was now being rewarded as Sora and ventus save her together. Also I think the dome was her reflect tbh

Can we just acknowledge the fact that given how fast Vanitas was (shown twice at <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="240">4:00</a>-<a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="245">4:05</a>), he could've easily killed all of them before they could blink? Just some food for thought. (I don't really know anything about Kingdom Hearts, just something I noticed. I only found out his name was Vanitas by scrolling through the comments section)

That was Literally NOTHING Compare to what Sora did Prior to his Fight with Aqua. He Moved in between Aqua & Riku at a Blinding Speed Faster than Light. It literally Looked like that her sword Clashed with Riku's but it was In Fact Sora who stopped her!

I believe that's when Ventus' heart was incomplete and neither was Vanitas'. The two hearts that were one in the same were clashing and that pure light vs pure dark is what forged the x-blade. In this scene Ventus' heart is complete again which is why he is able to wake up. So because of that I dont think it would have created another x-blade.

yeah, it's kind of strange because later, Sora is surprised that Vanitas looks like him, even though he's already seen Vanitas' face in 3D, although it's possible back then, he thought Xehanort made some evil copy of himself or something lol
