The broken sleight against bosses that you are thinking of is Lethal Frame. Once you unlock it, to use it you stock Stop+Attack+Attack.

An entire world finished in an episode, and finally, you understand the true brokenness of sleights, Dan! And just fyi, but Sonic Blade kind of gets nerfed due to the transition to a wider plane, and thus can't easily hit multiple targets, at least from what I gathered. Still broken though. There's also the Lethal Frame sleight, which I have yet to see. Also, I actually like Dan's voiceover for Oogie.

At the beginning of Castle Oblivion, the game made a big deal about the characters being in basic outfits, and I don't think they've changed until now. So why did they switch to the Halloween Town costumes of the last game? That didn't happen in the GBA version, though admittedly that was probably to save on sprites.

This game was my introduction into the series, so the part about the star completely threw me off what the actual story was for a long time. The prequel allows for dramatic irony, but it's nice sometimes to be just as clueless of the main character so that the big reveal actually surprises you at the end.

Dan, as a CCG player, high level CCG play is about knowing your deck's win condition and then building your deck around fulfilling it. 75% of the game happens during deck-building. Your win condition is Blitz, and you've set up your deck to fulfill it. My assessment is that you're finally approaching this game like a CCG. I was looking forward to seeing you get good. Also I love how bat shit insane Vexen looks in poly.

I mean, they don't seem to have released anything of note in the past few years, but they're still around. I'm glad to see that even on easy mode and in the first time you fight her, Larxene retains her ability to play a single sleight and immediately delete your entire lifebar. Heck, on higher difficulties, she can play a single card and just delete your entire lifebar.

Also, while Sleights pretty much cant be countered by normal cards and only by another a Sleight of a higher value, 0 can still counter it. iirc that is why the Jafar card is so helpful, as it stops enemy cards from breaking your own.

Never played the game but just going by what I see, if you have the option to have multiple decks like it seems to me (there's a deck 1, deck 2, and deck 3) you could create one deck for spamming slights, one for more healing, and one for better boss battles, just as examples.

The lip-synch on the Organization characters is kind of awful. It’s not too bad on Axel because his mouth doesn’t move as much as the others and it’s passable for Larxene, but it’s terrible on the new guy (Vexen?) also, imho, his voice really doesn’t fit his character model. I’d almost say they synched the animations to the Japanese audio and didn’t bother (or did the minimum possible effort) to change it for the English dub.

As far as strategizing goes, I would argue that all the strategizing in card games like this *is in* the deck building phase. Actually using the deck you've spent time figuring out how to build shouldn't be as frantic as it was in the earlier videos - it should be like watching an efficient, masterfully designed plan being executed over and over.

After a certain point, I just welcome the sweet creeping of madness upon my brain as I scream at the scream in despair. "IT'S. PRONOUNCED. SLIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHT!" Other than that, I'm happy this series is continuing. :) It's aweosme to watch, even with the madness. Larxene is a joy to watch in action, albeit a bit "stock cliche." It's neat to learn about these characters who didn't make it into the mainstream series. Vexen's another new one, but he doesn't seem as interesting.

Not having a single zero-value card in deck can be problematic for bosses. Imagine a boss is doing a 9-8-8 sleight, almost oneshotting you. Without a zero-card, there is no way to cancel that attack.

Huh, seems like Halloween Town is always a world where interesting information is revealed. Instead of a plot re-thread of the movie the Halloween Town plot always seem to involve the good Doctor doing experiments on stuff which is relevant to the overall plot, be it hearts or memories. Wonder if that was a deliberate thing on account of how the Nightmare Before Christmas IP is something they could take more liberties with so they could go more in depth with the story THEY wanted to tell rather then just having to effectively "stay true" to an old Disney classic.

Bit behind, here, but - so far as room cards go, any that aren't at least 2 star for heartless, outside of the moogle room, save room, and treasure room, should just be tossed out. Pares it down so that you have only ones that are actually worth anything. Though, I would also recommend not worrying about keeping Martial Wakening rooms, since those will mess your deck up. Oh, and the cards you use to make story rooms have no effect on what goes on inside of them. Keep it up! This game isn't /that/ long, so... yeah.

bosses do not really require a special deck if you're just going to spam sleights. I once accidentally forgot to equip a deck I built just to fight that one boss at the end of the game and just spammed sleights so I could die and equip the deck I wanted. beat him on the first try. on proud mode. beat what was left of the game that way
