anyone else notice this? each in-world event is Sora's memory trying to warn him how something is messing with his mind and attempting to rewrite it to basically brainwash him. Sora being so dim, he easily falls for the trap and ends up falling for [spoiler]'s effects and doing the very things he was being warned of.

I find it interesting that Sora's stubbornness (usually a great stength of his) and Vexen's condescension and disregard are the only things that stop Marluxia's plan unravelling every time Vexen shows up; at no point does Vexen *not* give Sora hints about what's really going on. I wish they'd done more with him; he could've easily been as engaging as Axel.

I was talking to a friend, and we were baffled when we realized the story REALLY doesn't get messy until Dream Drop Distance. I feel like Nomura knew how he wanted to end Kingdom Hearts 3, but he had like 10 more details he needed to introduce to get to that point. So he crammed most of them into that game.

I always loved Twilight Town, from its aesthetics to the eternal(?) sunset covering the world, even in the simpler level design in both CoM iterations. The music especially, although I find KH2's version to be better than this. Also, this should be the first world where Dan can cut some slack from all the voice acting. Vexen's fight... it feels a bit weaker in this one because he already pulled off about half his movelist in the first fight. Not that it's any less challenging. At least there's no Ice Burn. Next Episode: "Don't listen to me!" Edit: ...wait, "sleight" is pronounced similar to "slight"? I've been lied to this whole time.

Emperor's New Groove could still have a chance in the KH series at somepoint. The fim has definatly grown on audiences over the years, similar to Alice in Wonderland. It did get a direct-to-DVD sequel, spinoff series, and an appearance in the Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom crossover game. Disney can certanly see a market for it in merchandise. I don't think it will appear in KH3, however, since there seems to be a focus on worlds from 3D animated movies.

This is just a random guess, but are the organisation attempting to regrow their hearts or some such, as Nobodies were originally defined by ansem in his report as entities that are left behind when the heart is consumed or some such, and Axel seems to possess joy which is a part of the heart as much as the negative emotions that consume it

You're sort of on the right trail. Logically they would aim to do that based on what we know, but let's just say that the organization keeps secrets from its own members at times. After all, we've already witnessed members turning against one another, so who's to say that there wouldn't be more of plots to uncover? I'm not going to give a more straight forward answer for the sake of avoiding spoilers, unless you specifically ask for them.

Please find the sleight that uses fire magic and has Sora Fly around with pillars of fire surrounding him. Definitely agree about The Emperor's New Groove and The Sweatbox (it's available on archive.org for anybody looking for it). That mid-development documentary style is also one of the special things about the Double Fine Adventure! documentary by 2 Player Productions - it was filmed and released in segments as the game was being made, so it's a very vulnerable look behind the scenes of Broken Age.

Vexen was a stupid hard boss in the original GBA version for me, primarily because Blizzard is the go-to magic of this game. In the original, it was the hardest spell I found for enemies to dodge and didn't require much aiming. Every time a fight with Vexen popped up, I had to completely rearrange my deck and my strategy to compensate. And that shield was a MUCH bigger pain in the original.

Since I played KH2 before this I already had the twist of what Twilight Town means to Sora ruined for me but still when I played the GBA version of this game the first time and got the world card from Vexen I was excited to in a sense go back and visit it.
