I know how hard the "who will I eat ice cream with" is memed. But it's one of the hardest hitting lines in Kingdom Hearts. For Roxas eating ice cream with his friends was the only thing he could look towards the end of the day. It just shatters everything for him

It’s also because Roxas doesn’t even understand his feelings at this point as he is lead to believe he doesn’t have any. He is unable to vocalize his emotions, so he relates his feelings to the one thing he really enjoyed doing. It’s very heavy.

7:03 people really misunderstand this line. People think it's funny, when it's supposed to be extremely emotional. Roxas, not knowing anything about his Sombodies past, and not having a heart, doesn't understand friendship. To him, friendship is sitting on a clock tower, and eating ice cream with someone while talking about your day at work. This is friendship to him, and it's all that matters. When Xion is gone, he realizes he can't do that anymore. He won't have anyone to experience his version of friendship with him. Therefore, the writing is actually good in this scene, and doesn't deserve the flack that it gets.

To understand the plot of Kingdom Hearts, you only need to understand 2 concept and everything will be opened for your maximum axiom understanding of such "philosophical" history. RETCON and MONEY. Always Retcon, that will take you to buy another game. And in that new game, a new Retcon. Continue like this, until it covers all the existing consoles.

Xehanort’s beliefs were changed to bringing balance to darkness rather than bringing balance to light. 3. Sora was originally the keyblade “Master”, only for us to realize that he isn’t a master and that there are literally thousands of other keyblade weilders out there. That’s basically it lol. Everything else is just added information, NOT retcons.
