TBH Fenrir strat was also satisfying enough. Also there are no such thing as "cheap strategy". Strategy literally means "The Art of getting advantage" in some cultures. NOT using a strategy that makes your life easier is like a General that sends soldiers to die to make the victory more glorious. It's plain stupidity. *EDIT* On Fenrir I felt satisfied AND stupid, because I had tried that mofo a lot of times to get killed in his last 2 bars of HP. CM is not easy son.

Zodiac Phantom Aqua from BBS 0.2 is the closest we ever got to a boss similar to Lingering Will. Considering that game was basically a demo for KH3, I'm sure we'll get something even more epic and complex for a secret boss in KH3.

And look at the Zodiac Phantom from 0.2 Incredibly unique boss that is incredibly challenging, staggers consistently, has revenge value, etc. Even to this day people are finding out new ways to tackle her. For the longest time everyone thought that magic (preferably Thundaga) was the only way to cancel out her Dark Blizzaja spell, but it turns out you can cancel it with Aqua's downward Aerial Spirial 100% of the time if you position yourself right. And the best part is that she was designed by the Osaka Team. The same exact team who created the genuine cancer that was the Mysterious Figure. It shows that they have made an incredible 180 and have made monumental progress since then.

If you want a guide, you should watch one of the AGDQ speedruns of Crit Lv 1. They have someone narrating the whole thing to the audience and they’re a blast to watch, plus they’re informative and really show you the mindset behind the strats.

^^ This is recommended. Watching speedruns and strat videos (besides this one obviously) help a lot. Watching these have actually made me a better Kingdom Hearts player in general. This is a legitimate way to understand how to play at this difficulty. Plus that's a heavy load for Biz to sit and edit a Lvl. 1 guide being that his videos are very concise and informative, it'd take a while.

Straight up, I could never figure these out, so I used the gull wing to get lvl 99 easy in twilight town. Then I basically fly around in final form until I can land a combo. One full aerial combo can take out a solid 4 bars of health. On top of that, when I reverted, I used Gennie final form to land a few hits, and use reflect to build drive when I could. All in all, tricky to figure out, but honestly the early leveling up makes a big difference in critical. I say just bite the bullet and make every fight easy that way. Anyways, thanks for the video. I never knew how to use the fenrir tactic properly, so I might give it a try next time. Thanks man!

when i fought him, i did use your normal loop and duck flare strat. even then, it took me a week because the LW can still do certain patterns i couldn't quite dodge and i don't think fighting it normally at that final phase is good for my sanity.

"Cheating" was if you did something out of the rules. Any of these strategies are not even considered Cheap, as "Easy". If you like working a lot to get the same result I challenge you to build a house only using a thumbtack as tool.

I did the Berserk Charge strategy and after 3 or so hours of trying, it worked lol I also mashed Square so fast that it was technically considered proper timing by the game's standards

The first time I played, Sora, Donald, and Goofy were at lvl 99, with the strongest weapons. I got owned so much that I used the Fenrir jump slash strategy. But I knew I wasn’t going to have any personal closure if I left it at that. So I replayed it. Sora had all Hi-Potions except for 1 Mega-Potion, Donald and Goofy each had 1 Mega-Potion, 1 Ether, and the rest Hi-Potions. Sora equipped with the Ultima Keyblade (IE the best one), and Donald and Goofy with their strongest weapons. All of their moves were set to “use freely”, and the items were on “emergency only” each. And set them to “attack Sora’s target”. I used Limits so I’d be invincible during his moves, and so as soon as he drops his guard, I’d already be attacking him. If not, then I used the Genie summon (IE the best one) to do the same thing. And if neither are there, I just glide around until either meter was full. RINSE AND REPEAT, and I beat him in about 6-8 tries.

I found this strat on my own my first time with this boss. I equip bond of flame and I also summon stitch. I actually loop the base form firaga and he has a hard time breaking out. Stitch provides me with plenty of cures and also deflects his huge projectile for me. Not only that, but constant HP orbs as well. When his desperation comes out I let go of stitch and have Donald do a limit for the invisibility. Then I repeat. Worked for me.

At the Beginning. I still used the Cheap Strategies but for a few weeks now I can legitimately defeat him. As soon as you know how to deal with him, he is fine, only towards the end I have problems with him when he brings his seal attack. Your Lingering Will Guide helped me too. ^^

For normal looping it should be note that there is some tweak depending on the AI : -Ultima Canon AI is the best one he will always just do Rising Sun and the Whip when his revenge value is hit -Rising Sun AI is the second best but should be carefull cause if you come close to soon he might do a second whip attack -Curse AI is actually the second worst behind Glide AI he might retaliate with regular Rising Sun + Whip like the Ultima Canon AI but sometime he can become much random sometime I had him teleport away and then charge at me with an Instant Whip (quite deadly at LV1 if you're not fast enough to react).

If you're doing the loop correctly, his sealing phase won't have a surprise teleport whip. The rest of that is just stuff not worth noting in this video since I didn't want to go into every possible scenario of the strat to pad the video when it's for cheap strats

Glad I didn't found this out while I was hunting for Platinum a while back. My friend and I made a complete analysis of LW's moves and spend an eternity practicing countermoves. It was the first time in years a challenging boss forced us into old-school investigation work and it made it *so* much more satisfying to eventually beat the boss :)

You can also cheese his desperation move by summoning stitch (i only did it because i couldnt parry his 3rd attack combo). After he finishes his Desperation move he lands and instantly gets stunned by stitch you can easily combo him afterwards + stitch also drops health orbs which resets your 1hp survive ability if you somehow mess up druing the desperation move

for anyone still struggling with this fight, final form is incredible for it. glide can take care of most of his kit, and the spinning blades can help tech or deflect attacks. i was able to do it without cheese, but i still consulted this video for some tips. thanks for the video!!

ok wow. normal looping sounds kinda like how i did it on my own. my kit was, ultima weapon,2 fullbloom+ max ap, donald save the queen goofster save the king+, and the good stuff without combo pluses. basically, i let him do his thing, followed by my counter, but stopping before his revenge because his ai still is stupid easy to control like that. if bike value = true, final form fire is your best bet. at least, that was my process. when he does the orb his revenge value goes down by 1 guard break explosion set, so be careful. after i got him to rage phase, i basically did the normal normal loop thing and made sure my back was to the wall so he wouldn't backsnipe me.

You can also do the stitch strategy where you summon stitch to have near infinite magic throughout the whole fight. If you get to low health stitch will damage him so you get orbs to restore hp and stitch will automatically block the lasers for you. The most casual yet fair way to defeat lingering will.

I believe there’s also the Stitch cheap strategy where once you summon you can continue the fight or do one of those loop hits. Stitch not only refills your HP and MP, though not always, he can also stun Lingering Will when he plays his ukulele.

On the one hand, I *did* use Berserk Charge the first time I beat Lingering Will, only I hadn't figured out how well BC'd Horizontal Slashes worked against him. I waited for openings and popped off Duck Flare, then unleashed BC'd aerial combos on him while the Limit was active.

I only just barely manged to beat him once on the PS3 version, though I didn't use any of these strategies. Maybe the looping one, but not intentionally. But when I played the PS4 version and tried again (this time on Critical, before it was on Proud) while I still struggled the first time until I actually won (like 3 hours later), after that I was able to beat him much more consistently, or at least get him to his DM phase before messing up on the timing for guarding it. It's like the pressure of beating him once and getting the crown/trophy was psyching me out but once it was gone I was able to relax a lot more and analyze better.

well, to be honest, i won't blame you at all since the PS3 port of KH2 is absolute worst due to having longer loadtimes, unstable glitches and so on xd. I would say that the PS4 port is a much better version, but there was also this bug with the Auto-Save feature that could possibly ruined your game file, but still, at least was playable xd

My first LW kill was the Negative Combo cheese, didn't feel like a victory but I was happy to get the trophy and the platinum. Did it properly on the PS4 release and it was so much more satisfying to beat him normal, I can still go back and beat him fairly reliably but he still beats me more than I beat him, the big difference is I feel I have a much greater control of the fight.

Theres several reasons why people would want to use those strategies. 1. Some people might just want to get the trophy, and be done with it, after several hours of getting your ass handed by this guy, i can totally understand someone just doing Fenrir Strat and be done with it. 2. Farming Manifest Illusion. This is where i usually use the Strat. Sure fighting LW is fun, but when you try to finish your Synthing, and try to make 4 Full Blooms, you might want to get it done fast and easy. Especially on LV1, where it might still take you several hours to get 1 kill. Sure its a skill thing, but i still havent found a proper way to handle his bike phase and find it faster to just give up on a fight if he does it, and retry with a new RNG.

I'm a year later than you but Whirli-goof's finisher is probably the fastest I've ever seen an HP bar drain. I used that limit in the Hades Paradox cup against the Cloud, Yuffie, Tifa, and Squall's onslaught. It was super effective.

So what is the reason for Berserk Charge to work? In all the other tactics you explained the reason and they made sense as far as how the game screws itself over but this one just seems odd. Is it a bug with the revenge value not going up or resetting after every hit or something else? Was just wondering if knew is all.

I think it's the same thing as Fenrir, where it's particular knockback doesn't give him a chance to check his revenge value, which is why you get instant revenge when you miss the timing.

Same thing as Peter Pan, you just infinite stun lock with it so that it prevents retaliation, but as said in the video it's more strict timing or he will break out, it has to be really well timed each slash

Its actually kinda interesting, how in the PS2 and PS3 Versions, it is actually possible to just mash it, if youre mashing fast enough. Turbo controllers, or the Turbo function of an emulator does it fine, the 60 FPS versions however i havent been able to mash hard enough. I've allways asumed that maybe all the inputs confuse the AI, cause too much data or something, which would also explain 60 FPS making it harder, but its just a guess, and theres probably different reasons.

You could never mash it on PS2 & PS3 long enough before it eventually fails, it required a turbo controller/setting to always work. I don't know of anyone who tried turbo on PS4 version though to see if it's different.

That's not terribly cheap, since it requires fair preparation and everyone having Elixirs doesn't matter cuz they'll blow through them before last phase, so you have to save yours for final phase and keep Dolan alive to use it more than once

I accidently ended up basically doing the Berserk Charge strat on my own just out of frustration and experimentation but tbh I wanna try all these others myself now.

The first time I ever beat him was when I hadn't tried for a while and had only started to game to do the data Roxas fight as it's just fun to do. After I felt like a challenge and overall getting my ass kicked in the process. In a mashup of keys clashing, Donald being useless and Goofy deflecting more life saving projectiles I can count I took a glance at his health bar and realized I was on the last bar. And the next 30 seconds was me trying my best to get out of the berserk state

First time I used Fenrir out of frustration. Came back a day later with the normal loop. I honestly don't know how you would beat him without keeping track of his revenge value. Once I learned how to counter him I got pretty consistent tho, I beat him a second time immediately after.

Executing them is going to be tough. The other fatally flawed factor is Donald's low Defense stat (you'd need to give him 99 Defense Boosts in order to fix that, and farming the materials for Mythril Crystals and Defense Boosts won't be easy)

I'm not getting that sword animation after (I think) following all the abilities advice posted everywhere for the negative combo strat. Is there like a finisher button i'm not pressing? I beat him legit once in the PS3 version and have cheesed him ever since. Granted in boss/enemy rando today I did try fighting him legit in Xaldin's arena and throwing in Beast's Limit. It would have worked, too, if I didn't run out of Ethers.

But if looping is considered at least some what too easy then how would you fight LW “fairly” if going past the revenge value means an auto retaliation breaking through most finishers, combos or general attacks? I’m genuinely asking cuz I feel like I’m missing something.

Anderson Mejia probably just keeping his revenge value in mind the entire time and stopping short of it so you don’t get wrecked by any auto counter. When he leaves another opening, you go for him again.

That's what I'm wondering too. I think every time I've beaten him I was looping him, but I didn't realize that's what I was doing, I just thought that was how the fight was meant to be done, but I'm not really sure.

Pretty much just not hitting his RV is what some people prefer, because then it adds more patterns you have to react to depending on what phase he's locked into. The game devs probably really did want you to "loop" him in 1st & 2nd phase, but some people like the challenge of not doing it.

In case you haven't figured it out already, you need 2 negative combos equipped. 1 from Fenrir keyblade, the other from leveling Sora.

Personnaly I would have never beaten Lw without the last two cheap strats I don't believe to have ruined my experience because of it, I was on him for almost a year and half (first time attempting to actually beat him on critical mode never tried before bc each time I was rekt by him) and I believe these strats are the more safe to use considering you only need to get what revenge value is and how to use it at your advantage properly assuming you don't want to deal with his berserk move once you know how deadly they are... Btw is the game that different on ps4 ? I've only owned the ps3 vers so I can't tell

Found out doing the fenrir strat that if you're quick enough, you can change the direction Sora is hitting Ling Will so he doesn't hit pillars. You have to really pay attention though because if you don't, he'll retaliate.

I'd consider these strats if I'm playing BBS with terra and rage because of Terra's garbage slide dodge. Then I'll switch and play KH2 to beat lingering will to feel better :)

I beat Lingering Will on Critical without cheesing him but I did use items and drive forms. Plus I was level 99.

Nah, they never patched this. You likely have a combo modifier on that's ruining it. Need to have none of those on along with the 2 negative combos.

sorry for the noobish question, but how does ps4 emulation work. is there a separate emulator or is it just the remote play thing? If it is an emulator, where would you get isos/roms? Like does it just have a setting to read the ps4 disc off your pc like rpcs3?
