It’s sad. When Xion was killed off ; Roxas when on a rampage tried to bring her back; just because he want to see her again. And now Axel did the exact same thing for Roxas; Except that he was secretive about it.

He had to keep it secret so the other members wouldn't get suspicious of him. Roxas however was predicted by Xemnas since he needs Roxas rage and Sora memories to create a perfect vessel for Xehanort.

Funny how Xion, Roxas, and Axel are the only ones that actually chose their fates compare to the other members. Roxas joins Sora, Xion attacks Roxas in order to destroy herself so the organization won't use her to make Sora, and Axel gave himself up in order to protect Sora. Meanwhile the others all faded away trying to stop Sora.

Fun fact: y'all may have noticed, but only two forms of Nobodies ever fight you in this battle; Dusks and Assassins. While the Dusks are to be expected, the Assassins are an interesting case, as by all means, they're supposed to be under Axel's control. This could possibly be Xemnas usurping control of them.

I love how Axel mentions liking the Assassins better when they were under his control. Each of the thirteen members has control over a type of Nobody and Axel was supposed to control the Assassins, but at this point he has gone rogue and thus Xemnas has taken over the control of them.

I wish this series would have a feeling of consequence to it sometimes. Axel was a good character and you learned a lot about him without it having to be spoon-fed to you. But then after this emotional sacrifice which was a nice end to his character, he just comes back to life and becomes a Keyblade wielder? And then literally everyone else comes back too? I dunno man. KH2 used to feel like it could almost be a proper end to the series, but all the spin-off games have ironically made its events instead feel inconsequential.

the whole DDD managed to fuck up with KH's storyline... adding the "traveling throught time" bullshit... and rewritting the story of some characters (Xenmas simply became a darkness hungry guy, both him and Ansem lost their Main villains tone...) and Young Xehanort story is confusing as hell and unnecessary... DDD didn't have to exist for KHIII... honestly.
