Utada Hikaru is an amazing singer, since she can perform both japanese and english versions so perfectly. I also thinks that Kairi was underdeveloped throught the series, but I do hope she becomes a badass and helps Sora and Riku in their struggles with master Xehanort.

I just assumed the song was from kairis perspective, alot has happened in the kh series and kairi has always been left behind by Sora with a promise of returning some day, KH 1: kairi drew a paopu in the cave back to Sora crying over him not riku. Kh2: Sora learns about love from the various Disney characters he meets and it's mentioned plenty that kairis the one "he likes" Recoded: she disappointingly had to tell him Goodbye again which made her step forward and learn how to use the keyblade so she can see him and help. Maybe in kh3 she wants to solidify something with him and take an "oath" which is the Japanese version of the song, "oathkeeper" being the keyblade you get from kairi. Who knows though!

I think Nomura already confirmed that Kairi is playing a much bigger role in KH3 Suzy, and we already saw in the last two trailers that she indeed is involved in the final war/showdown between the guardians and Xehanort’s organization at the keyblade graveyard. Seeing as how she’s also a princess of light, I have a feeling that she’s going to be a major X factor in the war. Also Suzy, you should watch the back cover movie on 2.8, since the story inback cover will play a role in KH3.

The Utada tracks have never had a 1:1 relationship with the games. They tend to focus on relationships/romance, while the games are more about friendships/companionships. It may not be related to any characters, and is just there because it's cool/

Sure, the Japanese does indeed tend to line up better thematically. That doesn’t take away from the fact certain themes in the song are almost never touched in the game, mainly romance/relationships. Second i love both of the songs i feel we should hear all of the opening song before judge it. Also they cut out a lot in the opening but i think utada will still sing more in the song.

No she hasn't not every character is meant to be a fighter just like not every person is meant to be a warrior. Kari's importance is not rooted in fighting or being cool she simply put wasn't meant to be Aqua in fact Aqua is a failed version of Kari specifically because she's a warrior. Like Kari she's the heart of her team and they both look to her and are motivated by her but unlike Kari Aqua doesn't trust her friends and treats them like children she has to watch which pushes both away and leaves both trapped. Aqua believes in light like Kari but to a more extreme degree seeing it as an absolute force rather than simple kindness and this extreme view and lack of trust lose all her friends and trap her in the realm of darkness. Aqua is a failure specifically because she lacks the trust Kari has and can't inspire or drive people the way Kari does. Kari's gift is her heart as it has accomplished more than anyone else in the franchise and created numerous characters. Kari is driving the entire franchise by simply existing, Xion is a Sora replica but it was basically Kari's bond with Sora that created her and this reflection of Kari's heart is what led to both Roxas and Axel gaining their hearts. Kari by placing her heart in Sora created both Roxas and Namine, That decision by her causes a great deal of Chain of memories and II. Kari is instrumental to Axel's redemption in II she also plays a large role in saving Riku from his Ansom half even rescues both of them from the realm of darkness through her message. Kari did all of this by simply being her she didn't need a keyblade to do it she didn't need to be a warrior. Aqua making her a keyblade wielder was a mistake Kari wasn't meant to be a warrior even the trailers are showing Kari do what she does best awaken the light in others like Lea/Axel, and she's clearly going to play a role in Xion as well. That is Kari's purpose not to fight but to dream so others believe in their own light.

In terms of character and importance I do agree Aqua made the bigger staple in my mind. Aqua’s strong willed and stern but also caring and motherly, not to mention an actual playable character. Kairi is the only one who we’ve never played as or seen actual fighting from. She played the “damsel in distress” role in kh1 & 2 so I was never a huge fan of her. Really REALLY hoping she steps up in 3. Overall I agree that Aqua did more important things and honestly just had more character & screentime than Kairi.

Suzy Lu, this song was referring to Sora and Kairi's relationship, from childhood friends to being her knight, all the way to puppy love, and now a couple. So, theoretically speaking, Sora and Kairi are falling in love. That's what the song is based upon.

Simple and Clean will always be the definitive and most representative song of the KH Series. Don't Think Twice, however is quickly becoming my favorite song in series. I already like it more than Sanctuary. This has to be Kairi's perpective. Sora has a small case of puppy love at best. He has yet to REALLY showcase a further type of love towards Kairi yet. "Cross the Line" indeed.

I felt like the song flowed a lot more elegantly in the Japanese version which makes it clear it was created for Japan first, and then they created an English version. The english version is still really good but not quite as smooth as the Japanese version. Face My Fears on the other hand, that one is perfect in English. Absolutely perfect.

It's EVERYTHING to do with Kairi and Sora. Sorry Suzy but I don't agree with you at all. This song is DEFINITELY from Kairi's perspective. Please hear me out on this. We Sora's character inside and out, and his entire motivation for everything he's done has always been about finding and protecting his friends. His relationship with Kairi has been built up behind the scenes since the very beginning. KH1: Sora has a budding rivalry with Riku over Kairi's affection, which spins out of control once everyone is seperated. Riku chooses the darkness, willing to go to any lengths necessary to keep her safe. Sora loves her too, but doesn't believe the ends justify the means. Riku and Sora clash ideals one last time before Sora ultimately wins out and brings Kairi back safely. You get to see his chemistry with Kairi back in Traverse Town, and she gives him her good luck charm. After the events at Hollow Bastion, Riku is forced to accept that Sora was right, and sacrifices himself to close the door to darkness. This is where Riku makes Sora promise to "Take care of her". Sora agrees, and confesses to her right before the credits roll. KH2: Sora's goal yet again is to find Riku and Kairi. The situation is changed at this point. Sora knows she's safe, so he spends all of his energy trying to save the worlds and find Riku. There are several instances in KH2 specifically where a Disney romantic pairing come together, causing Sora to swoon because he's constantly thinking about Kairi. Moving on, Axel kidnaps her, and she immediately becomes his number one priority. When he FINALLY meets up with her at The World that Never Was, they hug it out. They get Riku back, who at this point had accepted that he was forever the third wheel and had dedicated to himself to ensuring that Sora and Kairi could be happy without him. Sora gets him back, they beat Xemnas, and in the final scene before the credits, he delivers the good luck charm, just like promised so long ago. KH3: Obviously hasnt come out, but Tetsuya Nomura has made several comments that validate what I'm getting at. First off, he stated in an interview that Sora's character would be a far cry from how he was in DDD. This means he's going to be MUCH more mature than he's been in any previous game. Romance in general is a pretty mature theme to run with, so that lines up perfectly. Kairi herself is also training to wield a keyblade under the teaching of Yen Sid. This means that she'll spend most of KH3 training with Lea. Both of them care about Sora in different ways so I can easily see a cutscene where they talk it out. Finally, love is a common theme in most of the worlds that were shown. Frozen was a story entirely about how powerful love can be. Big Hero Six was about a boy trying to follow in the footsteps of his big brother who he loved deeply before he passed away, and main antagonist of that film loved his daughter. Tangled had a romance in it as well. There's no doubt in my mind that love is one the core themes of KH3. It fits the narrative too perfectly to not be the case.

If you want to get deeper into kingdom hearts, you should watch the kh unclained x cutscenes. They are very important to the story, as it will also be important in kh3. I suggest watching back cover first and then watch the cutscenes. I believe they are all on the khinsider youtube channel.

I'm not a big fan of what I've heard so far of Face My Fears, but I understand we only got a small portion of it. So many people are saying that people don't like it just because Skrillex is involved, and if you liked the other KH theme remixes then you have to like Face My Fears... but I just don't like it (the part in 2nd half of the trailer), regardless of who made it.

Sora and Kairi’s relationshio has always played a role in the series, and their feelings for one another have always been mentioned in some way in every game. Yes they didn’t see each other much in KH2, but their romance is still hinted several times. At port royal in the first visit, Donald and Goody tease Sora for thinking about Kairi when Will and Elizabeth hug after being reunited. When Kairi ends up in twilight town, Olette talks about how romantic of a story sora and Kairi have when together and Kairi smiles. In christmastown, sora imagines himself dancing with Kairi when jack and sally are dancing. And Sora also gets on his knees for Saix when saix tells sora to show him how much he cares for her. In Japanese culture, getting on your knees is like the most humiliating/humbling and desperate thing a person can do and when it’s done for a loved one, it indicates how much that person loves that individual. In KH chain of memories, almost literally the ENTIRE PLOT of the game centers around sora and kairi’s feelings for each other and how important they are to one another. That’s why namine was able to manipulate Sora in the game, because she transferred sora’s feelings for Kairi onto herself. And at the end of the game, when namine puts sora to sleep, she tells him to remember the “most important person in his life, his light”, to help him recover his memories. In 358/2 Days, Riku and Xion talk about sora and Kairi and when Xion asks who Kairi is, riku responds saying “she’s someone who is very important to sora.” And finally, in BBS, when Aqua casts the spell on Kairi that allows her to be safely sent to the destiny islands after radiant garden is taken over by darkness and Xehanort casts her to the realms in between, her heart leads her directly to Sora which is why she is sent to the destiny islands. Meaning their hearts have been connected since they were children. I will never ubderstand the fan base that tries to pretend that sora and Kairi aren’t a thing, when the series literally spells it out that they ARE a thing.

There is very little focus on romantic relationships in these games, so any one of them is almost pure speculation. With that said, I can't really agree with what you're saying about people "forcefully" making characters gay "who clearly aren't gay". The point is that you don't know anything about any one of these characters' sexuality. How are they, for instance, "clearly not gay" or even bisexual for that matter? Besides the fact that you can't just assume anyone's sexuality, nobody in the series has given any clear romantic indication whatsoever.
