In the first few minutes with the scenes taken out of context and the music playing makes the game so eerie and atmospheric. I mean if they were to take a part of the game, set you down a long hallway and play this music without any heartless and let the atmosphere sink in, I'd honestly think you'd have one of the scariest/memorable moments in the kingdoms hearts franchise

oh, and the place at 4:18 is 'crumbling island' that the developers hid in world terminus (the place that takes you to all the worlds) it was a beta area where the climax of the final boss was supposed to take place, and was supposed to represent the remains of destiny islands, but was ultimately scrapped and replaced by the darkness world with the fight against the world of chaos. it can still be found if you fly around in the world terminus.

to leopolo, it's not that the inside was different, I think it was just based on who was creating the look. (similar to a Silent Hill thing) I think because Ansem (Xahanort) was a heartless, the inside appeared as a hearless world, and Xemnas, as a nobody, made Kingdom Hearts appear as the rest of his nobody world because that's what their minds "look" like this is just my theory. ///_^

Doesn't the abyss behind the Kingdom Hearts (the door) look like the place where Sora and Riku got at the end of KH2? Considering the other door there, it makes a bit of sense if it's the same place.

Most of these seem to be areas from cutscenes. Maybe the development team made the maps so they would have a template to work off of for the cutscenes. As for crumbling islands... I heard a theory of it being a beta final boss location, but if that isn't true, I dunno.

Yeah, it's like a transparancy filter of some kind; they finished the model of the actual floorspace, and made it all trippy except when the shadow ball things hit you for the little gauntlet of battles.

its the first scene at the End of the World. BUT in the original (no hacked) scene, the area is a sea with small floating rocks. when heartless appear, the area reveals ground and walls, which is seen in this scene.
