Getting my boy Andy Serkis in the marketing as much as possible is a big deal. Legend! Between how much 20th Century is posting on their KZbin about this movie and with some of the more physical in reality marketing we’re seeing with the apes on horseback on the California beaches, we are in for something good here. He even says in the video that this franchises important to him he wouldn’t hop on if the movie wasn’t good.

Andy should get a special achievement award but an award every year isn't needed. There are very, very few truly exceptional mocap performances and certainly not enough to award one per year. It would also push the industry to overuse it simply to get awards

Superhero, sci-fi and fantasy movies have been flush with them for over twenty years now with no recognition. The reason why you don't notice most of the great ones is because the most notable are usually done by Andy!! Mocap is not going anywhere and will be used more and more regardless. If anything, adding an actual award dedicated to it will add the type of prestige where actors will want to put in performances worthy of praise. Andy is the standard. Name the award after him.

Andy never acknowledges the original 5 films, the TV series, and the animated series. Roddy MacDowall did way more for this series than he has. This franchise was way bigger in the 60s and 70s, and its influence was felt long after. Kingdom is going to be good BECAUSE it resembles the 1968 masterpiece more in look and atmosphere. The new trilogy are hailed as great films by it's passionate, but ultimately small fanbase. It's not the cultural, Sci fi and social commentary phenomenon that the past entries were. Kingdom, now under Disney, will hopefully understand what made this series great beyond just family drama with motion capture CG for the "graphics and simple storytelling are everything" crowd.
