Just watched it. Overall it's alright, i was glad to be back in this world and these characters. The visuals, cgi and motion capture were top notch. So was the action, there were also some good tense moments. Now what i didn't really like was the story, it's nowhere near the level of the previous movies, i also wanted humans to be a huge part of the story, like in previous films. Overall, i liked it, i want a sequel, but it's nowhere near the level of the previous trilogy. 7/10

I think next to “Dawn”, which it comes close to, in terms of overall quality-it’s the best Apes movie since the original movie series ended in 1973. POTA superfan here. i agree a few of the characters could have been more fleshed out. At times suffers in last sct from Hollywood overkill in terms of action/thrills, but doesn’t negate overall quality of the film. It’s also cool to see the various easter eggs/callbacks in terms of visual references to the original films. The music score even included a bit of the original music score from the original 1968 classic at one point in the movie.

@DrumDums as much as I loved the previous trilogy as it was one of my favorite trilogies of the 2010’s I will say, I’m going to see it tomorrow with my dad at 2:15pm and I’m just going in expecting a solid continuation, I am not going in expecting the movie to be on par with the fantastic trilogy with Caesar who was easily one of my favorite movie characters of the past decade. I think that’s just unfair, and I know if I go into the movie with those kinds of expectations I may come out either thinking it’s mid or awful and I genuinely don’t want to put myself in that situation

Absolutely not based on how we know they're inspired by the original series the next one will be a blatant remake of beneath the planet of the apes. Think at the end what did you see people coming out of the ground so the next movie will be the human versus ape war we were promised with Woody harrelson. I was curious going into this, but the whole plot is paper thin. I did follow the plot, and it did sort of make sense. However, it was a bit silly. The gorillas trying to get into the vault. And keeping other tribes hostage? No real back story behind that. For me, there was no emotional involvement in the movie. The writing and story did not grab and keep my attention. None of the characters other than the orangutan held my interest. That's where I say the acting and production did not draw me in. And I don't care squat about special effects. Oh, but there's a part two? Sure. Whatever. Enjoy everyone, but I will pass.

::Spoiler:: The 1st three were very good. This last one, not so much. To be able to keep enough power to run a satellite installation, the knowledge passed from generation to generation to run the array, and to know Indiana is listening is just too far fetched. The wild humans devolved to drinking water with animals, and making clothing out of burlap, while the civilized humans kept up with botox, and veneers. It could have been 1hr shorter than it was.

The last planet of the apes trilogy was one of the best film trilogies ever imo..so I can imagine it would be hard to follow that. I still want to experience it in IMAX because it just looks like that type of film: An Experience. It could be good, but I'll keep my expectations in check.

Saw it on a free IMAX ticket tonight, and personally found it to be worthwhile. Visually not quite as strong as War, but more on par with Dawn, which isn't a bad thing. Storywise, it was very similar to Battle for the Planet of the Apes from the old series, granted of higher quality. I did however feel it does get slow in the middle, and maybe too familiar at times, but I believed each character and had fun with it regardless. It also sets up a potentially interesting future. 7.5/10 I'll give it.

I know in the original movies, and TV shows, chimps was like the scientists, gorillas was like the soldiers, and orangutans was like the bureaucracies.
