I put it in the video but I WAS streaming this with friends and not knowing we'd see The Witcher 4, in the streamed version they talk over a lot of this so I edited them out for this video version so if I tell "no one" to shut up, thats why LOL. And some of my comments might seem like I'm talking to someone 💀 But here's some Retrospective thoughts after NEW INFO from the Devs: Ciri clearly is using Signs which shouldn't really be possible unless she is *actually* a Witcher who went through the Trial of the Grasses, but its been officially confirmed by a dev on twitter that she DID indeed go through them and is a fully fledged Witcher now. I'm really intrigued by the dark setting here and it feels a bit different than the setting of The Witcher 3 which wasnt afraid to have horrifying monsters in the middle of the day, so I do appreciate this execution. Trailer was don magnificently. I know its a pipe dream but i do hope the game ACTUALLY looks like this, most of this trailer I could swear it was live action. Genuinely gaming has come so far. Ciri is looking amazing, and I'm really glad she will be the focus, Geralt deserves that time to rest. Although they did confirm he WILL be in the Witcher 4 but wont reveal what role he plays. In my eyes it looks like there's a lot to be excited about!

Great reaction, can't wait for this game to! A little correction though: It is potions she could not use without mutations from the trial, not signs. In fact she could do magic like Yen and Triss, was trained to do that a little as a child by Yen and it is something she used in this trailer ( taking energy from water source to blast a lightning bolt, that process is from the books). Answering your next question why she didn't use those during Witcher 3 is answered in books as well, explaining details would take to long 😅. I am personally intrigued about how she can use those again (which was definitely possible coming from the books, and does not contradict those, just curious about the details). Also yeah, i guess in time devs will let us know what happened to her teleportation powers exactly because currently we don't know anything for sure

Her Elderblood could also lend a lot to new moves/signs/attacks. It’s a *perfect* opportunity to expand on gameplay and *still* be lore-friendly. Don’t get me wrong- I’m *sick* of woke stuff in everything too…but I don’t think that’s what this is. Honestly, Ghost of Yotei has me *way* more concerned than this…just say’n.

According to tvgry, who have information from CD PROJEKT RED: - The main character is Ciri - Ciri is voiced by Ciara Berkeley in the English version - Ciri is a Witcher, after grass trial (no more info yet) - In the trailer we see the village of Burina in the far north (we don't know yet in which region exactly) - Sebastian Kalemba, Game Director of The Witcher says that the Studio wants to allow players explore new lands and new regions - The silver sword which Ciri uses is the well-known Swallow - The monster is Bauk, created based on Serbian mythology. This is a large monster and interestingly, the approach to this monster design, was influenced by the Cyberpunk expansion. Sebastian Kalemba mentioned in an interview that working on the Chimera in the "Phantom of Liberty" allowed the Studio to take another step in understanding fow to properly create large opponents in the game. I don't really get the point where people by all means try to ingore those first two steps of CDPR to build a legend (TW1, TW2). These are great games which contributed actually a lot in terms of forging the early mentioned legend - TW3. These games provide with gorgeous experience of authentic atmosphere, mainly TW1. That's why I, DIO, strongly recommend you to play the first two games in the series - you won't regret it. TW1 remake will be different than the OG version, so, there is still much sense in experiencing the OG because of its style. Cheers

Few thoughts... Seeing the wooden staues at the end, I think this is Velen. Could be in the Northlands, as well. Ciri didn't absolutely lose her power, I think. What many folks are calling water that she pulls power from could be very thick fog roiling. My Great Grandfather (an old Russian/Ukrainian ) used to say ~'Fog is a thin spot. It's the place Baba Yagga comes from.' I'm unnerved by thick fog to this day. What could the 'Queen of Time and Space' do with a 'thin spot'? At the end of W3, a mini conjunction occurred. Who's to say how wide spread it was? If it brought in more monsters, new monsters, there would be need of more Witchers. With the exception of the fire chain, Ciri is using basic signs. I think this is her not long after the trials. I think this could be after the beginning of the game. Maybe its a choice we make? to be a Witcher, or not due to 'events'? Anyway, I'm so hyped :)

the devs have now confirmed that ciri did go through th ewitcher trials. she also looks older, around 25-30 at my guess. during the witcher 3 shes around 23, if timelines are to be believed. she also looks much more bitter than she did in the itcher 3 - the freedom seeking ire turned to something colder and visceral. I feel by intuition alone that she is carrying some regret and is generally in a bad place all around.

I think the canon Witcher choice will be that she chose that path, but used her elder blood to create a new mutagen like the original Witchers did and lost her powers in the process. Bonus, she’ll found a new school

I am so excited I was really hoping to get the ciri game since they gave a few missions as her in the witcher 3 I am actually really happy about the way they did this they didn't over sexualize her gave her armor that looked amazing on her but looked like it actually offers protection just saying I'm tired of all the half naked women on battlefields I feel like they will do this right all the woke stuff people are complaining about this is a original character and one I'm really excited to see with her own game geralt had earned his rest and and wine whenever he wants it would be amazing to see him in any way

We will have to see how she did it since in the universe of The Witcher women cannot be witches, does anyone remember that? There are sorceresses, like Yennefer, but it is also clear in that universe that sorceresses and witchers are not the same thing. Also, Ciri in the trailer consumes a mutagen like witches, but sorceresses don't take mutagens, only witchers. We'll see how they explain those things.

I meant her Elder Blood power. When playing as her in the previous game, she could teleport alongside numerous supernatural abilities that she didn't use at all in this trailer. She appeared to only use Witcher Sign abilities which are quite frankly far beneath her. People theorize she lost those powers due to what happens at the end of the previous game but that's not *actually* confirmed yet.

because when they started to clean her and dress her up, it reminded me of the similar moment in The Witcher 3 where they would send the "chosen" of the village to go out and end up sacrificed. I think i meshed 2 events in my head in the end though. 1. The Moment when Geralt and Ciri would go to attack the Ladies which was similar to this moment, and the other was a side quest where they had a similar practice sending people out into the woods as sacrifices to their god which was actually a Leshen.

As a Witcher fan since 2008 I'm as excited about this one as I'm concerned about major lore retcons. Ciri here has cat eyes and drinks potions which means she has definitely gone through the trial of grasses being at least in her 20s. No adult has ever survived that regardless of his genetics. Also we see Ciri using witcher signs but not using her elder blood space-time travelling powers. Which leads me to think that we'll most likely have "Ciri went to some sorceress to get help in enduring the trial of grasses but mutations have greatly reduced her magic powers" setup. And that's pretty lame setup to me 😁

Looks great. I just hope that my few year old pc will still be able to ruin it. Witcher 3 was perfect for me so this game has big shoes to fill but potential is great. Ciri is the best possible main character(Since it was clear that Geralt will not be main character) I would also love a game about Regis but I don't think that this would be possible. I am very excited about this.

I believe it may be a trade off. Her Elder Blood may have given her the means to survive the trials, but now that she's mutated she could've lost those initial powers.

Idk but she does have the cat eyes and can use signs and also drink potions, so maybe she did undergo some mutations, maybe not as much as Geralt tho. I noticed her medallion is shaped like a cat/lynx so I also wonder what’s up with that. Can’t wait so see more, I hope she still got her powers from Witcher 3 but I definitely like all the extra witcher tools and skills she has now, learned it all from Geralt and uncle Vesemir!

I do wonder how will they explain the whole thing. She was already the most OP character in that world. So there was literally no need for her to take those trials and there's no way Geralt would allow her to do that (it's way too dangerous). Adding trials on top of her powers would only make her even more OP. So they surely have to find a way to nerf her somehow. Not to mention the whole retcon with trials suddenly working on adults and women... but that's a whole different topic. My pitch for Ciri game was always quite different tbh. My idea was that Ciri and Geralt would get send to a different world. A Witcher game set in Japan would be DOPE (CDPR even made some Samurai figures of Geralt and Ciri, really cool stuff). Imagine all the new monsters, new culture they have to learn, two different characters with different powers etc. Or maybe a witcher game where you make your own character. I bet that could also work.

@Pir-o No, that's literally not a retcon at all. Stop using words wrong. Someone coming up with a new version of the trials that works for women is not changing how the old trials work. Take a look at the entirety of the Friday the 13th franchise, if you want to learn what a retcon is. Jason died as a little kid in the first movie, and his mother murdered everyone. Then, in the second movie, they retconned it so it was actually a hallucination and he was alive the entire time. That's a retcon. Also, did you pay attention at all to Witcher 3, or Witcher as a whole? What Yen and Geralt want for Ciri is irrelevant, it's what Ciri herself wants. She wants the ability to decide for herself. That was a big part of her character.

@@KingdomAce I'm pretty sure he's talking about the canon. Never happened in the books and even in the games they say trials need to be done on kids cause no adult ever survived them. They also specially mention that trials cannot work on women. So those are obvious retcons they had to make here.

The entire games are "NOT CANNON" to the books, CDPR faithfully took the characters from the books and made it's own, incredible story with it.

But they never straight up contradicted previously established world building. But I'm sure writers can find some cleaver ways to explain it. At least I hope so.
