I have played kingdomino 46 times and I’m still amused by it.

Looks like the definitive version to get. I will gift my king domino to someone.

I'm really on the fence about this one. I think Kingdomino is a genius design that fits a particular niche in the collection. Queendomino is good; but, if I wanted a "next step" Euro game, I have dozens of options, and don't need a beefier Kingdomino. But I still might give Origins a try, since Zee says it walks the line between the two, and since the complexity is modular, so you don't have to add it if you don't want to....

We play Kingdomino a lot and it never fails. That said, I think I'm going to give it to one of my sons and get KD Origins for myself. Win-win!

Thanks for the excellent review! We have played Kingdomino, but we don't own it. Now I'm glad we don't, so we can get this game instead. It looks like it will be right in our wheelhouse.

Within the last month I decided to pick up Queendomino and found it really great! I was looking for a 'Q' game in my quest to have a game for every letter in the alphabet :) I want to grab Kingdomino too so I can play 7x7 with more players. I won't be getting this, but I'm really happy that this game exists and will be an excellent game for families to pick up and play

This version feels like a better fit to the original Kingdomino than Queendomino does. Queendomino had interesting choices when it came to the red tiles, but having to keep track of moving the dragon and the market was a little more complicated for some people. This is a nice middle ground of adding what you want to the game.

Is queendomino worth getting if you already own kingdomino?
@Mentat12312 жыл бұрын
@@joshfrench5858 If you want a more complex version of the game, then yes. And also, you can combine the two and play Queendomino with 7x7 grids for every player count.
@ko92 жыл бұрын
@@joshfrench5858 I actually sold Queendomino and got Kingdomino instead, so no. Queendomino seems like a layer of complexity was added on, causing it to be in an awkward gamespace: not quite a light gateway, but also not quite an interesting euro game. If you want more complexity, there are better games than Queendomino honestly. Kingdomino is pure and simple and fun. Having said all that, I do feel like Origins might be the best of the three, since it keeps Kingdomino's accessibility, yet also adds some depth without adding too much complexity.

@@joshfrench5858 Queendomino is great, I agree with Zee. I also like mixing Queen with King for a bigger game when playing with more than 2.

Since I own both kingdomino and queendomino, I'm skipping it, but this is pretty dope if you don't own either.

Picked this up at Essen. Excited to try it soon. Unsure if I need Queendomino still. But this one seems more fun thematically to me.

I don't think queendomino is more complex than Origins' third mode. I'd say it's relatively the same level of complexity. On the contrary, I think bulding tiles in queendomino are more straightforward than the tribemen tiles.
@mkitten132 жыл бұрын
As someone who mainly play the advanced 2-player mode in Kingdomino (the 7x7 grid) is that still a possibility in this version? I mean I assume it is, but would be nice to have that confirmed.
@BlueOrangeUSA2 жыл бұрын
Yes you can still play the 2-player mode, 7x7 grid, with Kingdomino Origins!

Zee, I don't think you mentioned Dragomino- the kids version. Though that's likely "outside of your wheel house". I think Tom covered it.

I play King’ with the Giants expansion and the Court print and play, which Origins gets its set collecting and tribe aspects from. I love the original, but yes adding the the other two expansions does add more complexity and so yeah more things to think about, and yet not be any more to think about or ponder. I would love to get Origins, but with the giants and print and play expansion and being able to add it to queen’ (which yeah I also own) I think… I FOMO but am good.

So this is basically a reworking of Kingdomino + The Court expansion? I guess it's nice if you want a cardboard copy, but I laminated my print and play of that expansion so it's a pass for me. "The Court" is a great addition to the original game, especially if you are playing a 2 player game with the 7x7 kingdom!
@carlpeters86902 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it kinda looks an awful lot like Kingdomino + "The Court". However it looks like it got a little more testing on "The Court". I may tweak my version accordingly.
@Sam-vk8xd2 жыл бұрын
I would say Origins is the step above The Court expansion.
@DrMcFly282 жыл бұрын
I still kinda think that the original Kingdomino is great for what it is, but instead of adding stuff to the simple basic formula one should maybe consider trying a completely different game instead. This is why Queendomino fell pretty flat for us. The different modes on this one do sound intriguing though. However I kinda like my Kingdomino tower, and I'm not sure the new modes of play compensate enough for the lack of grandeur if the tower's not there anymore... :)

Eh. This falls flat for me. Especially as someone who owns the Giant Edition.
