The Beautiful Blue Danube Waltz is the music most people associate the word "waltz" with. It is not very hard to see why. Johann Strauss II is called the Waltz King for his waltzes, and this one is easily the most famous. This was the first waltz I danced to, and the first waltz I ever listened to. The first dance I learned was the Waltz, and even though I heard the full version of this music many times, I was surprised to learn that this was originally meant to be a song. One of Johann Strauss' brothers (I think it was Joseph Strauss) was so jealous that he burned the lyrics to this song, so after tweaking it, Strauss made it into a waltz instead.

franz josef the goat ngl He was emperor at the wrong time, he had basically most of his family murdered, but still tried to (mostly) do right for his people. Cisleithania had basically universal male sufferage by 1914, and if that damn war hadn't happened, the federation would have happened at least to an extent. his empire was doomed by the time he ascended, but still tried his hardest to keep his legacy intact. And when war happened, he made sure his ancient monarchy did not go down dishonourably. So, all in all, Gott erhalte Franz den Kaiser!

Thanks for including all anthems (even the unofficial ones like the Radetzky March) of my beloved country here! Gott erhalte den Kaiser Franz is my personal favourite (and also most powerful) Austrian anthem. The modern Austrian anthem's melody is fine, but the singing is honestly not my taste (I prefer Mozart's version though). The Radetzky March and The Blue Danube are better and more patriotic anthems for Austria in my opinion.

I'm impressed, you researched all of this with care and detail, I have myself spent much time researching this topic and I have found no inaccuracies in the video. A few additional comments: -in the interwar period three texts were sung to the Melody of Haydn, which could tell you a lot about the political orientation of the person singing. The old imperial/Habsburg anthem was obviously sung by imperial loyalists, royalists (and any person who couldn't quite accept the new status quo I imagine, looking back on better times). The Deutschlandlied was sung by those wishing for unification with Germany, believing the new Austrian rump state stood little chance of survival on its own. Kernstockhymne text I imagine was sung by proponents for the new independent Austria, and followers of the new regime. -Everyone in Austria just calls "An der schönen blauen Donau": Donauwalzer -You could have included I am from Austria by Rainhard Fendrich, another unofficial anthem in the 20th century

If you include the unofficial anthems, you forgot the most important one. If you ask Austrians they all will tell you that Rainhard Fendrich's 'I am from Austria' is THE unofficial anthem.

Fall of Austria from a glorious large Superpower from a tiny landlocked neutral nation is very tragic, but I guess that's what you get when you betray Russia and get closer to Turkey, if they didn't betray us, maybe WW1 wouldn't even happen.

@@TheAustrianAnimations87 you seem to not know very much about this, Russia saved Austria's a$$ first from Prussia then from Napoleon then from Hungary, and Austria's response? Betrayal after betrayal, Austria was the main supplier of Turks and Allies in Crimean War, even Prussia, a natural enemy 9f Russia, didn't help Ottomans, but Austria, the supposed "friend" did. Let's say Crimean War didn't happen, how about the 1908 annexation of Bosnia after all borders had been carefully redrawn by Bismarck? How about being hostile towards Russia? Austria should've known puny Turks can some German mustard can't save them, but Russia could. Russia didn't want fear, we never wanted anyone to fear us, we simply wanted to be allies with them, why else would Russia rescue Austria 3 times for no reason? Austria basically left the good friend and befriended Street criminals, which didn't have a good end, at last Austria was shrinked by over 75%, but it could've all be different, if Austria sided with Russia and Entente, they wouldn't lose any land, but also gain most of Germany perhaps.
