It’s honestly so sad to look back at the old catalogues and see how far they’ve strayed from their original purpose..

Fr! I collect ag dolls, and I HATE the new “cartoons”. It strays from the “you can have fun without phones” sorta theme they had.

2017 thru 2018 has got to be one of the worst eras of AG. It had the introduction of the short-lived Perma-panties, the new eyes, and the controversy behind Tenney and Gabriela's releases.

Not to mention Logan's "face off" shenanigans 😬

It was so crazy to me because Grace and Lea the pervious two years had been really successful dolls for the brand then it just went over the edge

The American Girl are and will remain a milestone in the world of the high class dolls: they really are another world than all the other brands, there is no comparison.

I love the boy doll ideas. Why can’t they do the siblings from the historical American girl doll line as boy dolls
@Itsgay2read Жыл бұрын
Just what I needed this afternoon. The concept of AG always intrigued me, but not when they changed up and didn't focus on the history aspect as much.

Very funny for millenials to get mad when it's not that much of a difference from the time gap between when Julie's story takes place and when Julie was released.
@TheVintageGuidebook Жыл бұрын
Julie was too soon, too! It felt like an obvious money-grab instead of really taking more time to do research and make her release feel special.

I used to get the American Girl magazine and that Victoria Justice cover immediately ranked familiar, I had no idea at the time that it was her though!

I think the franchise obviously went downhill when they started archiving the historical dolls and brought them back rebranded. Big ick! I grew up with these dolls. I looooved them and I loved their books.

I was a kid and a huge AG fan during the Hopscotch Hill School era. I hated those dolls. Beyond the ugly faces, their joints were weird looking and I remember not liking their names either (especially Gwen and Logan, I'm so sorry if that's anyone's name here, I was a kid and very picky). The illustrations in the books were weird too. I think the Wellie Wishers make more sense as a doll for the younger age group.

My guess is that today’s kids aren’t all that interested in the pioneer lifestyle like 80s and 90s kids were. Kirsten was clearly created to profit from the little girls who loved Little House on the Prairie, which had aired its last episode a couple of years before the launch of the original American Girl collections. Even in the 90s I remember the show having reruns aired every day in the afternoon after kids got home from school.

it’s so weird that they named one of the newer ones makena when McKenna already exists idk if it’s pronounced the same way but it’s just odd

The only Historical characters I *really* have a problem with are the Twins. I’m annoyed that they are yet again blonde haired girls instead of another ethnicity. Honestly Asian could have worked so much better for the new millennium rep. The girl could have been Japanese American with one or both parents working in the technology field and the girl has an early internet website. I have nothing against girls with blue eyes and blond hair or Judaism but we have enough Historicals that are blondes. We *need* another Asian besides Ivy who was massively screwed over by AG given she literally has only two outfits and books and the books didn’t really discuss the issues Asian Americans are still facing to this day. There’s more to American history that the Chinese and other Asian cultures have contributed to other than Chinese/Lunar New Year, Chinese Restaurants, and China Town.

See $80 for a doll is more reasonable than how much they are now my first American girl doll when I was growing up was like $100 plus shipping same with my little sister and my family did not have a lotta money to spend on the dolls
