As much as I hate to admit it, the lack of good merchandise was definitely the show's downfall. It's part of the reason why other shows like Totally Spies and Miraculous ladybug were able to get several seasons.

I agree, it's been 4 years since the 2nd season ended and we still dont have any confirmations of a 3rd season. They even left us on a HUGE cliffhanger. The producers said that they needed to wait for the "right audience" to make the 3rd season, in other words they want Lolirock to be popular enough to continue it. As well as the lack of merchandising. Edit: another thing on why the show didnt get a 3rd season, is because a lot of parents ( Karens) are complaining that Talia said "hell yeah" one time and to them its considered "swearing"

5:40 this one was answered on the Tumblr. Aurianna and Talia don't have a Shanila form. Iris has one because as the heir of Ephedia, she's way more powerful than most of the other characters. It feels more like a "maincharacter special treatment" to me but at least it makes a bit of sense.

I think why people don't watch this is to it's simplistic plot and things that feel forced, such as the band, like there could be so much chances to incorporate it, like they could have battles where they sing against each other and they activate spells when they sing, like honestly how cool would that be and a compelling story line. And Gramorr's backstory sorta feels basic, even when I was a kid I got a little disappointed due to the lack of story, but I do understand it is a kid's show and there was probably financial issues, just stating out some opinions :')

Might be a nitpick but I never really got why Iris kept her pendant, like her power and only connection to her home planet, (which also looks pretty heavy), on such a thin, easily breakable piece of string. There was even an episode where it got snatched like that! And she learned nothing!

This video is super accurate, but I'll like to comment on the Shanila part. See, Shanila is a form that Iris summons when she is super pissed off. In the most extreme situations, like the medalion case and fighting gramorr. If they keep showing Shanila in periodic intervals it will become boring and won't make the fans any excited because they know that Shanila comes once in a blue moon. And Iris is a special princess, the most powerful one, meaning she is the only one who will have superpowers related to Shanila. For the other princesses, Shanila is just like a phase, becoming mature, like human bodies do. It kinda makes sense.

When it comes to the backstory, I think it’s possible that Gramorr attacked the other kingdoms way after he took control of Ephedia. Gramorr could’ve taken a lot of time to gain control and have an army. What’s kind of confusing now is why didn’t the other kingdoms help while Ephedia was still under attack? It seems like they only helped once they got attacked.

Something that never made sense to me was auriana and talia saying that they were from voltar and xeris but then saying they were ephedian. Then to add to it their home planet ended up being ephedia, when i thought they came from separate planets. so you're telling me that Iris is the princess of an entire planet while the other two are only princesses of certain regions or colonies? But then Talia called xeris her home planet so i'm confused.

I think if Iris had been left on Ephedia she'd probably look the same age as Talia and Auriana in the flashbacks. It never gotten the chance to be mentioned in the show but in a F.A.Q on the official Tumblr. Years on Ephedia are three times shorter than on earth. In earth years they're teenagers but in Ephedian years, Iris and Auriana are 45, with Talia, the oldest being 48.

I agree that the producers saved money by using an arena but I also see the reason why the characters use if it they have that power to go into a pocket dimension to keep others safe. Dr. Strange tries to use the mirror dimension to keep others safe and if my hero academia characters can go into another dimension to reduce damage and protect their citizens they would. But none of the characters have that power so they practice to battle and reduce damage around them in their lessons.

By far the biggest thing holding the show back, in my honest, humble opinion, is its aggressive adherence to the status quo. I know it’s a kids’ show, but still. It’s like they’re afraid to change things up. Season one ends with all of the princesses’ efforts being undone and them having to find the oracle gems all over again, the twins got an oracle gem ONCE when Mephisto made that musical monster, and then used a flying magic eye to come and snatch the gem that Iris and friends got. Auriana gets a makeover for one episode where she gets to be a model and wear her hair out, but then at the end of the episode quickly decides to quit modeling and the show has the nerve to make her say that the only GOOD photos of her were taken when Iris and Talia were in there with her. Praxina became good for one episode but then at the end of it she went back to being evil. Mephisto helped Iris save Praxina, Nathaniel, and the princesses and even showed a little bit of a good side, but then Mephisto told her to never talk about it again and so naturally the script just never brings it up, choosing instead to sweep it under the rug and act like it never happened. Gramorr replaces the twins once and when the second twins fail, decides to go back to hiring Mephisto and Praxina(granted tho I never liked the other twins, but still). Nathaniel finds out Iris’ true identity, trusts her, and loves her, but then Iris uses Izira’s Medallion to rewrite history so that it never happens. And then at the end of Season Two Praxina decides to attack earth, which results in a reestablishment of the status quo as we have to go back to seeing Iris and her friends on earth, rather than exploring Ephedia and its alien wonders. It’s so formula. That’s why I hope that Season three goes against the status quo, and that we maybe get to see them go back to Ephedia, and discover new things about the story’s world. Because I really, really, really like the show. It is fun and interesting. And I really don’t want it to become boring.

Shanila sounds to me like magic puberty. If it is a physiological process in which they undergo certain changes to facilitate a higher capacity for magic use, then it affects all magic users. That means: also boys and all the other princesses. We do know that their magic items are responsible for the transformation with their magical dress to give an external powerup. The innate magic of an Ephedian and their transformation gem seem to be independent. When Izira gave away her magic item (her medallion), she couldn't transform (magic dress) to fight Gramorr (oopsie). Then later at the end of Season 1 when she faced Gramorr again she was wearing a magic dress. Apparently she was able to make a new magic item for transformation - an item that includes a magic dress. If you assume that Iris' pendant holds 2 distinct magical dresses (one for battle, one for Shanila) that "activate" based on the situation, then there is no inconsistency with the other princesses and their Shanila. There's no reason the princesses couldn't make a new dress (for more toys) or add another level. We know that the twins don't have magic items with a magical dress (or uniform for guys). When they change their appearance it is just a costume or an illusion. There is no powerup for them. They have to rely on their own mastery of their Shanila powers. Also Talia tolerating the magical concerts does make sense. It's efficient. Talia is a "smart girl", right? Smart girls like efficiency. If they can use the magic concerts as practice for battle, then that's doing 2 things at once! Efficient. Remember the first episode when Iris' magic is awakened by singing into a specially enchanted microphone? Apparently music is a trigger for Iris' powers. So, that's a good reason to do music. Also remember Talia's backstory? She feels responsible for what happened in Xeris. And what do the princess do with the concerts on earth? Charity and helping people and doing good things and having fun. I think Talia tries to make up for what she did as a child. So, Talia and Auriana already knew a few things about Iris, before they found her. They knew she has an affinity for music and her strong sense of justice that would help them discover the Oracle Gems. They knew where to find her. And they knew what happened in the Ephedian palace when Gramorr attacked. Whatever happened that triggered their decision to come to Earth to find Iris, it must have involved ghosts. I mean, how else would Auriana know about Talia's secret? And then those ghosts told them about The Legendary Princes that was born to defeat Gramorr and was sent to Earth until her powers grow big enough to claim the throne. Yeah, who took the screenshots from within the throne room when Gramorr attacked? Of course it was those ghosts! Also those ghosts are very funny, because Auriana really likes ghosts now. Everything makes prefect sense, if you watch over and over and over... and over. The binding spell that trapped Gramorr wasn't meant for him. It was meant for Iris when her powers get out of control. Gramorr was the beta test. It needs work, because he broke free. It was meant to stall him just long enough for Iris to awaken her powers by herself at a much higher age. Talia and Auriana came early, because they found those ghosts! Ellira wasn't even in on this! She had just 2 simple orders: Raise her to be a loving, caring child and don't tell anyone!

In my opinion, what i think is actually weird is that the Girls Are Never shown Detransform in LoliRock. They are only shown transforming and developing their powerful state. Only Iris in her Shanila form is the one shown detransform. I find this really odd. Maybe they have to use a very big spell that the directors dont wanna show because its perhaps maybe too long. In the first episode, we can see how Iris has a hard time trying to transfrom, but does when she sees that her aunt, talia and auriana are in so much danger. When she asks at the end, talia says that she did it because her most powerful magic manifested, which is love. I think her shanila form only comes, not because she decides so herself, but because she sees that her loved ones are in great danger, and she feels like it's the end or they will get hurt deeply, and the powerful magic manifests at those moments. (Not sure though)

Something I noticed while watching the show is that if the spell that the girls used wasn’t a major spell, it typically didn’t have the same use ever again. Several spells the girls used ended up working differently later on. There was a bit of a lack of consistency on that front. I get that making a ton of different spells and keeping track of what they all do can be difficult, however your audience is bound to notice it eventually. Once I noticed it could be hard to ignore and kind of annoyed me. I still enjoy the show, it’s just this little things like that drive me nuts.

The one thing about Lolirock that no matter how much after rewatching I will never understand is the disappearance of Lev. It will forever irritate confuse and piss me off. He is shown in Stop in the Name of Lev (part two) at the very end, to be holding off Gramorr's attacks. We know he is fairly strong (at least strong enough to hold him until Iris went through the portal) but we see him get hit by a blast of crystal. I'm not very eager to believe he died there, because I feel like Iris had a lackluster reaction to it in general, and if he died I like to think she would be more upset. (Only because he put his life on the line for her.) Because of this, I'm assuming Lev is alive. If Lev is alive, then where the heck is he when the girls come back to the throne room after Gramorr's defeat? You'd expect to see him with Izira because didn't he say he was going to join the resistance? But no. Nowhere to be seen. And the worst part, the part that gets on my nerves the most, is not once, not a single time, does Iris ask or express confusion in not seeing him. (Sheesh even a scene like, he's not with the resistance? Did he lie again?)

For the whole Shanila thing, also yes I know I'm replying after a year, the reason why the other girls didn't have an outfit most likely has something to do with Iris being the daughter of the Queen or whatever. I'm guessing she was just born special or they half-assed it and didn't want to put so much budget into animating several other forms that have a ton of detail. I know I'd get tired after a while too and I wouldn't blame them. Though, I would TOTALLY like to ever see a new form for Talia and Arianna since it sounds very interesting and especially with their color schemes!

I’m sorry but I really hate “Talia and Kyle sitting in a tree”. Like first off, Talia is right. Like the whole time and also was that the real Kyle the whole time or was that just a thing created by Praxina. And if it was then why did Talia decide to be in a relationship in the end? The only reason they survived that episode was because of a spell Talia taught Iris. Proving her point that she should focus more on learning spells than “having fun”. Also (this is more of a nitpick) why did they NEVER apologize to Talia for giving her phone number out without her permission? The whole episode was just so strange to me. Another thing that confused me are their transformation trinkets. So in order to enter their ephedian forms they must transform with their accessory thingies. So like...On their home realm do they have to constantly wear those to remain like that (we did see a baby Iris with blonde hair and the necklace around her neck)? okey backstory: Graymor attacked Talias and Arianas palaces before Iris' so like he was attacking all of the kingdoms that day if that makes any sense why are they in a band?: Ariana basically forced them to. After they did auditions, Talia and Iris basically dropped the idea, but Ariana kept persisting them to make up the band. She even named it, so they basically had no choice. and also so they'd fit in better. Also generally people would think that their magic was special effects. Arena: okay uh, well "I haven't heard of any show caring about background characters or destroying buildings" so why can't they now? Sure might've been financial issues, but of course you wouldn't wanna hurt people during a fight, like bro- how does this not make sense to you??? They summon the arena to cause less damage. There, simple. Shanila: okay that form is basically a last resort super powerful magic form for Iris, if she's in trouble her normal powers can't handle, she transforms, and she only needed to use it a few times. And also it would be cool. And we do see pictures and a little backstory on Arianas and Talias Shanila's, but they're not really important to the plot line, unlike Iris'

Why did they kill mephisto man. Praxina had to have her memory erased to be a good person. Mephisto teamed up with the girls on his own volition on at least 2 occasions and was even friendly with Iris. He literally told Iris that if he wasnt with generic bad guy he would totally follow her lead. Keep generic villain alive. Kill Praxina. And have that the straw that breaks the camel's back for Mephisto. So he joins the girls. That would be a way better ending.

I know this is a month late, but the reason why we don't have a season 3 is because it would be too expensive and would take too long since season 2 took 5 years to make. Plus, the studio who owns Lolirock aren't interested in making more seasons. The official tumblr website said, we can make our own season 3 in the form of fanfiction, but I highly doubt it will give the same satisfaction the show gave unless it's made by a good writer.

This is my own theory but I feel like during battles..the reason why their "end" spell is always crystal luxtra is cause..when the girls perform this spell, it requires full concentration and plus the spell itself is a straight beam of light. In order for this to work the enemy has to be weak in order to not move and be a perfect target so the spell hits perfectly at it..this spell can't be scattered around much and nor can the girls themselves move during casting it or else it won't work.. basically the first spells they perform are just to get it heavily weak and then to finally blast the beast away by crystal luxtra

(coming late, but the announcement of season 3 being in production made me look for Lolirock again) I think the band focus was because of a plot point that was forgotten with the episodes : their magic comes from their voice. So naturally, the more practice you get, the more magic you get / more precise with your spells. The rest of the issues, the conflicting backstory, the arena, is just common french practice : make a grand story and make it sound / look like there's far more going on than shown. Usually leads to inconsistencies, small or insignificant questions answered, characters that are a bit off.

About Shanila, according to the show, the crown held the most power, which belonged to Iris’s mom, which probably means they were the most powerful royalty, also including the fact that they were the only ones captured. Im thinking that because if her parents were the most powerful, iris would be the most powerful princess. The other two might be constantly using their weaker shanila forms in every fight (not weak as in weaker than their original but weak as in weaker that iris’s), and the reason why we see iris’s less is probably because it takes more out of her than the other two because shes been doing magic for less time, so she can’t use it as often.
