GW is letting a gold mine of setting ideas slip through their fingers by ignoring eras like this, humanity's peak, and the War in Heaven remain as vague lore tidbits. With the Horus Heresy almost over, they have some options to work with here for a side-game to the main 40k era. They don't have to be terrified just because Space Marines and Primarchs aren't involved.

Pre-Great Crusade era is my favorite in the whole of 30k and 40k. The birth of the Imperium is just so interesting when one knows what it goes on to be.

With learned cannibalism existing, one wonders if flesh vat technology still existed and if so what type of flesh was grown in them. Would eating vatgrown flesh based on human DNA be cannibalism?

My favorite era is from Age Of Strife/Unification War to the end of the Horus Heresy, and my favorite character has always been Malcador. I would love to know more about him, and if my theory that he only consists of a head that reattaches to replacement bodies via the cables coming out of his metal collar is actually correct. 😆
