I have been lucky enough to see two of these birds on my local canal. They are very shy though it’s almost blink and you will miss it.

I never even knew they were in this country but seen 1 a couple times near a pond I walk past. They're absolutely beautiful. It's quite a long system of small rivers streams and ponds so probably perfect environment for them.

They aren't blind diving in the water as they have a third eye lid called a nictitating membrane which protects their eyes.

what would catch and decapitate a kingfisher as i found two a couple of days apart no head just the bodys

Kingfishers are the best, we get belted kingfishers in my area
