My uncle Bill aka William Fitzgibbon, worked for Vaught after he left the Army in 1946 - he was a wind tunnel tech. - he retired from Vaught after 35 years

Thanks! I have really come to love this woefully underappreciated aircraft, especially as it saved so many downed naval aviators in the Pacific. The events at Truk are nicely covered in O'Kane's book about the Tang, "Clear the Bridge!" (and I highly recommend it to anyone interested in submarine warfare). Thank you for creating this interesting and entertaining video about this plane! I've started binge watching a lot of your other videos and am having fun picking up new details along the way!

Glad you enjoyed it! I just looked up O’Kane’s book and will read it next.

A great video! Ever since visiting the USS N Carolina in 1963 and seeing its Kingfisher in Wilmington NORTH CAROLINA, I’ve been interested in its operations, especially its its becoming airborne, recovered, and utilized. A most interesting story. 😊

Love your channel! Keep the good stuff coming. I've been lucky enough to see the Kingfisher on the North Carolina and the one at Udvar-Hazy Center.

I have all ways liked this little guy. Had a model or two. Might just get another. I was unaware of some of the heroics facilitated by her.

It was a quick thanks because I had to get a wriggle on to get to work, but this series is fantastic and I was wondering when you might tell us the history of the Vought F4U Corsair and its variants it's my favourite warbird. This isn't me wanting it straight away just wondering if you are thinking of doing one on it. Thanks for all your effort I truly love the series and watch each video within hours of release.

Great research. I have a question, how many navigation lights has this plane? Where are they located? Thanks!

Hi! I like details but I didn't dig that far! Are you a modeller?
@cuervoscuro-abrahammartine5134Ай бұрын
@@worldofwarbirds yes, I am researching the kingfisher because I want to add some lights on wings and tail, if possible :)

There is a Kingfisher at the Battleship North Carolina museum. Why not write to them and ask? I'm sure that they would be thrilled to go look at it and report back. Maybe they'll even send pics! My friend and I had a question about the B-25 and she send her contact at a museum the question and got the answer back in 10 minutes! They are fans that work at these places. battleshipnc.com/contact/
