In this series I try playing the new expansion for Pathfinder: Kingmaker, Beneath the Stolen Lands! The expansion adds a rogue-like mode, which is randomly generated each time, where you can complete an entire campaign in 8-10 hours instead of the usual time a cRPG campaign like Kingmaker's can normally take. I'm still deciding whether or not to make this one series, since it's run-based, or whether to make each run its own series. I guess we'll find out!

@@darkfireslide I would love to see some off the beaten path classes that could fill traditional roles....IE..(no idea if this would work) Druid tank, Cleric dps caster, ect ect ect.

Overall how do you rate this dlc? I like the rogue lite aspect and it also helps with testing out different parties. I'd give it a 7.

I'm in love with it. Needs more enemy variety in the early floors but it's great overall. Adds nearly endless content and a completely new and fresh way to play Pathfinder/a cRPG.

Kingmaker is based on the Pathfinder ruleset. Character building is much deeper, there are nearly endless ways to customize your character, and the game feels more like Dungeons & Dragons since the Pathfinder ruleset is based on D&D 3.5. The game has a much steeper learning curve for its difficulty and is real time with pause rather than turn based (this is moddable however). Kingmaker's only let down is its lack of polish. Otherwise it is a vast, engrossing RPG with hours upon hours of content. The mode this current playthrough is using is a rogue-like dungeon crawl mode that just came out. The main campaign actually has a story and such.

darkfireslide - you seem to be overselling Pathfinder by comparison to Divinity Original Sin 2. @Xmifi - what is the "big" difference? The short answer: Divinity Original Sin 2 is traditional turn based, Pathfinder is real time with pause. Both games can have a steep learning curve to do "well"...but neither of them is so complicated that you'll be lost, especially if you've played any of the Baldur's Gate style games over the years. Both games can also have pretty deep character customization. And while Pathfinder's may have more customization within the leveling system....I don't think that really translates much into feeling like that customization drastically changes your gameplay any more than the customization in Divinity. These following comments are based on playing each game at normal difficulty: I'd argue that Divinity's combat gameplay is a bit more interactive than Kingmaker. Why do I say this? Because in Divinity, even the lowliest combats have you using tactical skill choices and character placement. In Pathfinder (and many of the real time with pause rpg games) you can start the battle with buff spells/abilities and then just auto-attack the encounter to death in many cases. Obviously there are exceptions, and some of the more difficult encounters require more than "buff and run in". With Divinity, it is possible to min-max your characters and give yourself a big advantage in combats....but even then, the combat requires more choice from you as the player. And the environmental effects in Divinity can have a big effect on how you can use and traverse the map during a combat. I know the real time with pause games can have environmental effects as well, but with Divinity...they are a prevalent part of the experience by comparison. Both games are enjoyable, but while looking similar, their combat gameplay is quite different due to the turn based vs real time with pause difference.
