I'm really grateful that you always do the rhetorical question of why is the alchemist different? Why do you want to play it? You get straight to the point of what is this class and it makes remembering what the class does really easy

Thanks! The question emerged naturally as I started doing class videos for more complicated classes like the kineticist. But it became very useful when making the video for simpler classes. For example, I had to put some thought into it for the Inventor.

those versatile vials... holy crap... to continue your wizard metaphor... That's like having access to your whole spell book as FOCUS SPELLS! now i am hype to try another alchemist later!

It is in a way, but more action intensive. You have to make the versatile vial into a consumable (1 action), then use it (1 action) before it expires. It's a single action amount of damage in a 2 action activity, but super versatile. Using Quickdraw for an already made bomb is more efficient, but you have to decide in advance what to make.

I have a question for the alchemists in general.. What's to stop someone from adding Versatile Vial's formula to your book and thus use it for advanced alchemy???? Or by taking Versatile Vial as a lvl 1 formula thus adding it to Advanced Alchemy... Thus increasing your total number of Versatile Vials at the expense of a formula slot while leveling. So, having 6 of your Advanced Alchemy items be Versatile Vials as well as having your "per day" max vial pool.??. Like, because what's to stop me from getting the Versatile Vial formula and crafting them during downtime??? Do non-alchemist have a cap on how many Versatile Vials they can create if the V.v's are a craftable item?? Appreciate any answers 🫠

Versatile Viles and Versatile Vile are two different things. Versatile Viles is a resource and Versatile Vile is a basic bomb or basic alchemical item of some kind depending on your research field that you essentially have infinite of. We can see this to be true using context clues in the Quick Alchemy action. You have 2 options the first you create and alchemical item that you have the formula for and expend one of your Versatile Viles and the second option is you create a Versatile Vile, but it doesn't say you expend it. Meaning it's two separate things mechanically. Blame Paizo on this one guys.

That would possibly be a better way to explain it, honestly. I actually misunderstood how it worked when I started to make the video, and had to redo some parts once I realized my mistake.

Mutagenists need a buff I think, I have to play one but on paper you just have to be slowed 1 if don't want the drawbacks of the mutagens. I think that should be the baseline, don't having drawbacks and powering up the effects of the mutagen by drinking versatile vials for 1 turn and maybe bringing back the base drawback during that turn.

Note that the Splash damage is currently uncertain : the Player core and the GM core don't tell the same thing (on one book you apply Splash even on a failure, on the other you apply Splash only on a success or better)

Where on PC does it say that it doesn't deal damage on failure? Granted I don't have the book, but there lacks any PC rules entry on Splash damage entirely on Archives
