I always felt KH suffered by being a bit of a 'place on the way to Moseley'. If Homebase (on the old train station site) goes, what could be done with that area? Also you could go through Kings Heath on the main road and not know Kings Heath Park was there at all - the place turns its back on its greenery. It's a nice place to live but you wouldn't know it from the main drag.

Ha, great video! :) The Kings Heath Transition group are really excited about these ideas, myself included! I think lots of us really feel that getting local businesses on board with green issues is absolutely crucial - and it's in their benefit too, at the end of the day. We've started talking to a lot of businesses but it's hard doing it on our own - much better to work together. I hope your BID's bid wins!

Late to the party with my comment here, but I wish this had been done sooner. Went for a walk around there a few days back, really is a huge mixed bag of nice independent businesses versus some of these fried chicken establishments (and the clientele that they attract). I hope something is done about this soon otherwise Kings Heath/Moseley could become beautiful areas that are allowed to turn to 💩

I grew up in kings Heath and now it's ruined not like it was in the 60s 70s and 80s thank god I'm not there any more

Hmm, this is incomplete. Here is some more information for people who wants to live, shop or visit kings Heath. Take particular care if you have children. Kings Heath Primary School is the largest in Birmingham. Same road accomodated the parking lot for Asda which on a daily basis and at peak and school hours push in 40+ ton HGVs out into the tiny street where many small children and teens from various other schools are put at risk.. If they do make it to the high street then they are up against an overly populated shopping street with HGVs and mega-trucks with massive blind spots often mamnaged by careless drivers(you can spot them very often on their phones or just glaring out their windows daydreaming) while the most vulnerable road users, elderly, children, cyclists are trying to find their ways back home. Please take care of your family in this area. Kings Heath in Bloom is Not a pleasant and safe area for shoppers, or families. More info: Livein Hope/ FB and www.liveinhope.net

I don`t think you were half way there, you were more like half cut or not all there. You cannot turn back the clock and get local traders when the parking is useless. Motorists are lawless parking on double yellows, pavements, disabled bays they are not entitled to putting pedestrians at risk. These activities are not policed. People mention swimming pools, well Kings Heath had a perfectly good one which was turned into a pay and display car park (no chance of re-instatement I suspect). High street is full of £1 shops take aways and charity shops (which a lot I understand were given discounts on rent and rates etc as start ups) which has driven out all of the quality traditional traders who could no longer afford the overheads to trade there. The only decent traders there now have been driven into the side streets not the high street as you can see in your "trick Video" trying to make the place look better than it is. The Parks were lovely and are still good but they (kings heath, Highbury & Swanshurst) have all had there tennis courts and bowling removed, thus no local sporting facilities. I understand now that even Cocksmore liesure centre is considering changing its sports hall into a gym so even further loss of community sports facilities.Yes I grew up around there when the place was a fantastic village (60`s & 70`s). You cannot turn back the clock with paltry money, the place has lost its sole.

Stop extorting money off people for parking it is unacceptable! Stop dictating to people about what people can and cannot do! Kings Heath has gone right down since I lived there 10 years ago - so your promotional film is a joke!
