Silent 8mm home movie, filmed circa 1960 in King's Heath, Birmingham. This is an improved copy of my original upload under the same title which has unaccountably disappeared from KZbin! I have now uploaded another version running at a slightly slower speed which can be viewed via the following link • This Is Kings Heath, B...

Great video! Iv grown up and lived in yardley wood/kings heath all my life, I’m often on the high street, loved all the elderly men on the bench chatting away, the baby in the pram, and the old cinema, which is now half knocked down.

Wow! I lived in/around Kings Heath in the late 50's to the late 70's and remember well all the shops etc and the Kingsway, where I spent many a happy hour. The first school shown was (i believe) Colmore Road, where I attended bot the infants and juniors. A great pity that K.H has now turned into such a crap-hole!

I was born in the wrong era I think. I feel nostalgic and sad and want simpler times. Not all this materialistic, false and extreme consumerism. When women had class and dressed like ladies and everyone took pride in themselves. I live in kings heath and I do like it but its not the same as it was.

00:45 These old boys are likely WWI servicemen who didn’t wear their medals or headwear to go to the shops or bits of uniform hoping for someone to say “Thank you for your service” after the Great War unlike the World War None veterans of today. Today’s former servicemen & women who did engage in combat tend to be like these old men. Others make a fuss about nothing.
