As a native of Southern California for over 40 years, this goes way past just NBA or even sports altogether. Kobe was a global icon. As much as it hurts, I feel privileged to have seen him play his entire career in LA. The best laker of all time and a huge influence on many young people. RIP Kobe
@anthonyrodriguez6254 жыл бұрын
Well said, I've always loved basketball. And I started watching the Lakers religiously back in 2000.i know it sounds dumb cuz I'm 36 and Kobe was 4 or years older than me? But in a sense? I felt like I watched Kobe grow up, I was heartbroken when my mom called me and asked if I had anything about kobe? My mom does not like Kobe so I was like. Kobe? No? That's when she told me she was seeing all over Facebook that he had been killed. That's when I ran to the TV and saw that it was true. When my mom first told me I was like? No! No! No! That's gotta be a mistake. She stayed silent and was respectful cuz she knows I've always loved kobe and the Lakers. My oldest loves Kobe and plays basketball for the youth league in our hometown.his number was 24 and him and his team the LAKERS won the championship that season. He said he did it for Kobe. It still hurts and can't believe he's really gone
@mrblackalchemist4 жыл бұрын
@@anthonyrodriguez625 Actually it is not dumb. He was born 2 months before I was in 1978, and entered the league around the time I was finding my way into adulthood. When he died I thought about how a very young man can come into the league with many doubters and leave a huge legacy. RIP Kobe

LA should've gone to their purple and gold jersey's for this game. Imo would've been a really fitting gesture

Jaydon Battram I thought for sure they were going to, I mean it would totally make sense right? But then I thought about it, and realized they may not have because they may have wanted to let the first team to wear those colors in that building after what happened to be the Lakers. If the Lakers hadn’t postponed their Tuesday game, the Kings may have worn them for this game after, or not since it would have already been done idk. Im conflicted on it because i don’t know what the right move would have been. In one way I feel like it was respectful to allow the Lakers to be the first to wear those colors in the building after, but on another I feel like it wouldn’t have mattered that much and having those colors worn during the first sporting event back in that building would have been totally appropriate as well even if it was hockey. Maybe added a Lakers patch to the jerseys with 8 and 24 on them rather than just the helmet stickers. But I still think they did a great job of honoring him in that building. And I’m a lightning fan, so I was happy to see the Kings score first in that building (but obviously happy that my team ended up winning in the end lol)

They cant. Because of the NHLs jersey contract with Adidas. The old royal blue and gold was with Reebok. During the 2017-2018 season, which was the start of the contract with Adidas no NHL team was allowed a third/alternative jersey. So if they if LA wants the royal blue and gold to come back it needs to be through Adidas but planned ahead of time they cant just make one. But right now there isnt any plans for those uniforms to return.
My heart hurts sooo much ! I still don't want to believe it ! I can't stop crying !! Rest in peace to all who perished in that tragedy !!

I interviewed people and the things they had to say just brings you to tears. I heard that they will be sending all the fan memorabilia to Vanessa, Kobe's wife, I am glad that she will see you much he was loved. This is an amazing video from the SPORTSNET channel. It’s making me feel the worst for the other families who get thrown on the end after every time it’s mentioned as only “and the other 7 people killed”. It’s horrible, it really is. I understand that one of the nine was super famous but it can’t be easy as one of the surviving family members to only hear about 2 of the victims like yours don’t matter enough to be mentioned by name. Two of them were the mom and dad of more than the daughter that died with them. Those 2 kids are orphaned now and missing a sibling. Another woman also had other kids besides the one that died with her. You don’t see anything about any of them anywhere, it’s shameful. I’m not one for getting worked up about passing celebrities but this situation is upsetting just because of the nature of it. Every time I hear it talked about I can’t help but imagine the horrendous terror for those moments when they must’ve known they were crashing. No one deserves that kind of horrific ending.

That would be the idealistic approach, but you have to deal with reality. 61k people die each year in Brazil and no one hears a damn thing, people have connection to Kobe Bryant only and that's what people are unfortunately going to care about.
@sannya63905 жыл бұрын
The other people are getting more recognition now than they would’ve if Kobe wasn’t on the helicopter though. I don’t know what you’re upset about. Their names and faces are on a billboard in staples center and people all over America know their names and are expressing condolences. That’s not usual for victims of helicopter crashes. I’ve heard news stories about people dying on helicopter crashes before and it appears on the news once or twice and people quickly move on. That’s the norm. The only reason why this is a major news story for so long is because it involves Kobe. Honestly, if Kobe wasn’t on this helicopter, not many people, including myself, would even know the names of the other people who died.

Kind of upset the Kings didn’t wear their gold alternates. Even if they didn’t have them ready I feel like they had enough time to pay someone plenty of money to make them all real quick. BUT, I also get not doing it and letting the first team to wear those colors in Staples Center after this to be the Lakers. That may have been why
@TheJerseyNinja5 жыл бұрын
If the Lakers had played on Tuesday night, then the Kings may have worn them, or may not have idk, just feel like that works been cool to see, also I’m a Tampa fan so I was happy the Kings scored first in that building (but obviously happy my team won the game lol)
