Oregon has landed a verbal commitment from Alabama transfer safety and former 2024 4-star prospect Peyton Woodyard. The 6-foot-2 safety was on campus this weekend for an official visit with his family. Woodyard becomes Oregon's second transfer portal addition this spring and the second this weekend as the Ducks scored a commitment as well from Michigan State defensive tackle Derrick Harmon.

Oregon added Harmon as well. The reason Oregon has to portal so many defensive players is Lanning’s guys are entering their sophomore seasons. They need to portal experience while the young guys finish cooking. Ohio State does not have that issue because their coach is not going into season three after being left little by the previous coach.

Some of the tropes about Oregon are about 10 years old, but I appreciate the conversations about Oregon. I think it could be hard to see other programs for what they are when you follow a program like tOSU. The light shining from a program like that seems to overshadow other programs. I will say that the hosts might want to look into Oregon’s recruiting classes and where they are from. The Ducks recruit nationally. Not just from Southern California.

Birmingham is really biased against Oregon. Every player Oregon gets is “because Oregon paid them more”. Ohio State dishes out more money than anyone. They got their entire team to come back this year. And have like half of the top 25 committed to them in next years class lol. We all know they aren’t just going there because they want to play for Ryan Day 😂

My personal take: Ohio's offense under Ryan faded back noticeably. I'm not forgetting last year, or how he ran from media. The calls to fire him were everywhere. So, let's not pretend all has been good under Ryan Day. Ryan knows his offense floundered so he brought in a PAC-12 offense and hired Chip. For me, Oregon is stable and Ohio is up in the air. Chip could right the ship and Ohio could return to dominance, but its just as likely it doesn't work out. Oregon had two weaknesses last year: pass rush and secondary. They look significantly improved. So, at the moment, I'd lean Oregon. Helps knowing Ohio has to play Oregon @ Oregon.

It’s really not that hard to get to Oregon lol. All you do is get on a plane… you guys are acting like Oregon is Hawaii or something. And Eugene is only a few hours from Northern California. They get players from all over the country, travel matters for some recruits, not so much with others. It’s a beautiful place to live with few distractions. A lot of kids like that. Oregon signed the #1 player in 6 different states last year. Including Oklahoma and Maryland. McClellan and Flowers were top 100 recruits from MO and Texas. Signed 5⭐️ Dallas Wilson from Florida for 2025 class. Dante Moore 5⭐️ and #1 player from Michigan in the portal. Obviously their base will be on the west coast, but they can get guys from anywhere. Been doing it for years and it’s only increasing now that they are in the B1G. Oregon has an elite staff of recruiters, just like Ohio State, they will both get guys from everywhere. And let’s not pretend like Ohio State isn’t dishing out as much or more $ than Oregon is in NIL. They got nearly their entire team to come back this year instead of going to the draft and their recruiting class for next year is beyond ridiculous. They are dishing out serious 💰. Which is what you have to do to compete at the top.

Can't wait for the Oregon~ Ohio State game, though! 🏈😎 Watch out for Oregon's tight end... And they should Dickie and Kasper in there making some catches as well. I don't think there's really legitimate questions on the Oregon defense.... There's maybe a couple of minor questions. Oregon's culture is pretty solid. I don't know if you can get the age to Ohio State win the game is being played at Autzen. Ohio State has to figure some things out offensively.

Is Doug serious? Since Day got to Columbus OSU has made the playoff more times than Urban did. What is Lanning’s signature win? He hasn’t beaten anyone on the level of 2020 Clemson, and even in two of Day’s losses (to Clemson in 19 and Georgia in 22), OSU was significantly better than Oregon could ever hope to be. I mean, congrats to the Ducks on beating literally OSU’s all-time worst defense-they still gave up nearly 500 yards through the air in CJ’s second start of his career. How many Oregon players have been developed into NFL rookies of the year in the last decade? I count three Buckeyes since Day arrived in 2019, and Marv could easily be #4. Oregon is a solid program but their peer in the B1G is Penn State, not OSU.

Ohio State is 9-0 all time vs. Oregon. Not a rivalry in any way. Oregon’s peer in the East is Michigan State (4-3 all-time, with a lot of similar metrics).
