I saw KOL in a small club in Cardiff Wales just before their debut album was released..Barfly was the venue.Great club hosted many many artists..sadly knocked down now. There must of been less than 50 people watching them.I remember them being at the bar getting a drink.

now this is the Kings of Leon I know and love, I was in a new high school when I was first shown Kings of Leon by a friend who is still my friend to this day, such a sound track to my coming of age, Joe's head, taper jean girl, red morning light, on call, charmer, classics tunes, I think they went way too commercial with their sound, I miss the dirtiness the songs and vocals had. while I'm here I wanna throw my friend some love for all the good times, he's a music producer now and has just released a banging dirty indie tune, try searching Lonely Gimmick - Grumpy Days, it's seriously one of the best new indie tracks Ive heard in a while,

I remember when this track came out, I liked them yet I thought they'd be quick to disappear like some of their contemporaries but they evolved into what the are now. I can't say I love their newer stuff, but you have to respect the integrity of the band even at the level of their success. One can respect an artist without being a fervent fan, as is my case.

J Marin you can’t continue to be a band without some kind of success. They had to move out of the van and do more. Unfortunately this music they played then wouldn’t allow for that. But I feel they kept their integrity and core sound even as they became better and more accomplished songwriters on the edge of the popular consciousness.

One of the hardest working bands I've ever had the pleasure to listen to, made music and toured till they nearly imploded! Loved there early sound, moon shine and mullet's. this album still sounds as good as it did in 2003. You could still buy psychedelic truffles and mushrooms from festivals back then! I remember falling in love with KOL. I got Youth and Young Manhood as soon as it came out and I was blown away. These guys had it all until Sex on Fire came along and they sold their soul to mainstream. Now of course, many will see this as success, but in my opinion it all went down hill from there. Their new audience most didn’t know about their original stuff and when some of them heard it they thought it was rubbish, I couldn’t believe it. I only ever listen to the first two albums, that’s the KOL I know and love.
