I think the original is a rare example of a perfect song, meaning nothing anyone does to it can make it better then the original. I think kings of Leon knew this and I appreciate how they didn’t try to change it.

Agreed. The perfect song. Radiohead refused to play after them at a festival, said they wouldn’t do the festival if they were slated to go on after Pixies. Mad respect from a supergroup to who they consider one of the greatest of all time. 👍🏻

A core memory for me. I’ll never forget lying on the grass at Bonnaroo years ago. My favorite band Kings of Leon was playing. Heard the first note from this song, one of my top favorite songs, shot up and got chills. I’ve seen them countless times since, never covered another song, never covered this song again. Truly an amazing moment in my life.

Pixies were a big influence on these guys, man I love thier old raw material that was less polished and more southern rock, that was mainly popular in Europe until Only by the night album, one of the best bands of the last 20 years.
