12:00 just a minor correction, the siege weapon depicted in the video during the mongol wars against khwarezm is a counterweight trebuchet, however this is anachronistic as the counterweight trebuchet was a technology unfamiliar to the mongols at the time. it was a technology originating either in the middle east or in Europe and brought to the middle east by the crusaders. later, Persian muslim engineers would be sent east to China to build counterweight trebuchets for the reduction of chinese cities. So, the animation at 12:00 should be of a chinese style torsion catapult like that depicted at 13:54 rather than a counterweight trebuchet. great video keep up the good work!

Although, during the years of running your show, I think you should consider to chnage some stuff in your videos (just a constructive criticism here): - You guys repeating words way too often. In every minute, I hear the word "mongol" at least five times, after a short period it gets a little bugging to hear it - Sound effects (in other videos, like: when the crowds shouting in jubilation; clashing swords; horse hoareing, etc etc), I would also use them less often, because it's really repetitive by now. And again, about Turks defecting. In steppe mentality, similar to Chinese Mandate of Heaven, a Khaghan who seems to have the support of Tengri behind his back could easily be seen as the just ruler. So they saw no issue in submitting to him immedaitely. This mentality remained strong even in Ottomans. If the Sultan had power and authority intact, nobody would ever question him. But if his son or brother somehow managed to bring him down or amass an army to dethrone him, well, people would just need to be convinced a bit, and if he manages to get the throne, nobody would again questioned his legitimacy. That's why they always tended to kill their brothers when they ascend to the throne for about a century. Too many civil wars happened
@NaviRyan
@NaviRyan 3 жыл бұрын
The mongols would have integrated various people’s primarily based on geography and who they are at war with. Genghis would have acquired various steppe people because his empire was in the steppe plains, then Chinese when at war with the various Chinese empires, then middle eastern, caucuses, Russians and Eastern Europe. By the time of kublai khan and the yuan empire the mongol empire itself was already broken into factions that would integrate with the local people and adopt their customs or get defeated by the local people and turned into vassals.

I take issue with the opening line of this video! If you look at the armor and hairstyles of the enemies in Ghost of Tsushima you see Mongols Chinese and Koreans among them. Not the most historically accurate portrayals of each but I found enough distinction where it didn't bother me. That is all, now to watch the rest of the video, which I'm sure is up to your usual excellent standards

Yeah! Finally some information about my Enesay Kygyz ancestors, btw Kyrgyz people who used to live in Enesay (Mother River) supplied mongolian army with both weapon and products, because land was very rich with minerals and had very fertile soil, and had own road attached to great silkway, but kyrgyz people did not want to be under mongols and they uprised several times, and mongols decided to force kyrgyz people to migrate to other territories, that is why some of our ancestors migrated to central asia

Simply; Vast nomadic steppe empires was united Asian state. Mongols, Turks, Tungusic people, Indo Iranian central Asian nomads like Yuezhi. Some agriculturalist like Sogdians(had key roles in Gokturk Empire) lived together in same empires for centuries... Mongols, Turks, Jurchens etc shared same god and religion, same pastoralist lifestyle and army-nation life. It is normal to see them together every era.
