KingSlayer is my take on the classic RMC conversion of Son of Beast. The template I used was the one from 2022's 5 Hours of Power Contest, where entrants were tasked with making a complete conversion of the iconic Son of Beast coaster in just 5 hours. Now I did not compete in this because you would catch me dead waking up before 8AM to participate in a contest that has largely not been worth it in the past 3 or 4 years, but I actually really enjoyed this one! So in spirit, I (roughly) timed myself doing the layout and made this in about 4.5 hours. Obviously, that does not include the truss, but I don't really care lol.
KingSlayer is a massive Hyper RMC Hybrid Coaster packed to the brim with intense airtime, fast inversions, and extreme pacing! When building this, I really wanted to try to not use the pre-drop section of the old Son of Beast as a pre-drop on this, as I found the other attempts to use it visually ugly and didn't add much to the ride. So now, exiting the first drop, there is a tight overbank turn which sustains some decent positives and sets up the next elements perfectly. I do not remember what possessed me to make the next element an Iron Gwazi-style outerbank, but I'm so happy it worked. The ride hits its top speed exiting this element and overall it would be one of the most intense elements on the ride and is certainly a highlight. With the loss of the giant wooden structure of the first drop, I knew the ride needed something else to make it visually imposing. Riders rocket through a 170ft (52m) tall vertical loop, paying homage to the original Son of Beast without hindering the ride experience. I know RMC has said they do not build vertical loops (because ride centerline cannot design them properly oop) and that they would've put a stall here, but I think a stall would've felt odd on this. I removed both rosebowls as I couldn't figure out any elements to put there that didn't feel forced. The rest of the layout is full of more amazing and unique elements in a mess that pulls from the intensity of Iron Gwazi and Zadra, the length of Steel Vengeance, plus a very high-speed train fly-by at the bottom of the first drop!
My friends say it would be their #1 if it was real but idk lol, there's a chance it could be I guess! Regardless, KingSlayer is a ride I am extremely proud of and one day I hope to give it a more fleshed-out video so you all can see even more this ride has to offer!
I hope you enjoy KingSlayer as much as I enjoyed making it!
