One of the descriptions of Dallas that King writes is how you can smell the oil refineries of Midland. Um- no. It’s like 300 miles away and really doesn’t affect the way Dallas smells! Maybe in the 60s? But I doubt it!

For King, my guess he was a good teacher, but a GREAT writer! Maybe it’s the opposite of Jake/George.

IIRC the Samaritans and the Tribes were enemies and the beaten traveller in the parable was passed twice by allies before he arrived. Great little story that's got multiple readings - don't prejudge people by their affiliations, don't rely too heavily upon your own, et cetra. Given the context of the rest of Jesus' parables about the Temple my interpretation is more in line with "You folks need to shape up. It's a shame when your enemies treat you more humanely than your allies."
