Glad to be catching up with the podcast! General thoughts- Space Babies was funny and cheesy and pure distilled RTD, it’s just gonna take me a while to get used to it after Moffatt and Chibnall kinda made me put my big girl pants on for several years. The monster did make me fight the urge to barf for a couple minutes though. Devil’s Chord felt a little unfocused- like all the plot beats were there, the story was there, but it felt like they were trying to do a lot in a short span. If this were back in RTD’s first run, I have a feeling this would have been a two-parter. But Jinkx Monsoon could play every over the top villain in everything I watch from now on and it wouldn’t be enough, I could tell everyone was having a BLAST filming.

Space Babies is half an episode constructed around the need to dump 60 years of history in 20 minutes so that new viewers can jump on... it's a worse version of Rose and if this was my first DW episode ever, I don't think I would continue watching if Ncuti wasn't so charming. However, the second episode is really great, so I can see why they dropped both of these at the same time. And now that we're past the awkward introduction, I can look forward to some awesome adventures in the rest of season 40!

The character Maestro mentioned they/them pronouns at the beginning, but also when referring to Jinkx irl, she uses she/her pronouns both in and out of drag now. She went on a whole gender journey and as a Drag Race fan I have kinda kept up with it all.

I’ll have a listen to this later, but I’ll tell you what, I was disappointed with the Devil’s Chord. - I didn’t like the descent into Austin Powers, and I think the Rutles looked more like the Beatles than these guys.
