The director said that Poppy is supposed to be Martha Stewart on crack. 46:56 this is reference to Trading Places where Dan Ackroyd’s character said it with one of his colleagues and with Valentine (Eddie Murphy) 48:45 he’s truly dead. They played with the idea of him missing his legs from the blast and crawling into the diner the showing up at the wedding with prosthetics but the director and Mark Strong(Merlin) felt that it would cheapen his heroic sacrifice. They did Harry dirty as well by bringing him back in a bullshit way and making him a maniac that just so happens to end up being right at the end. Completely ruined his character, would be better to keep him dead and actually move Eggsy's story of maturity forward instead of having him around like a crewpy uncle.

Merlin saying Whiskey was spelled wrong made me giggle. Anywhere that it is distilled is based on the e or no e naming. Scotland has no e in their name hence no e in Whisky. United States has an e so...Whiskey. Random.stupid knowledge for whomever wanted it 😂

Mostly. America and Ireland spell it with an "e" and pretty much everywhere else does...except...Maker's Mark (a Bourbon, which is therefore American) spells theirs "Whisky" (as a nod to the founder's Scottish-Irish heritage).

I liked the first one more. Not only is the church-scene is still unmatched, the first one also had a much better balance between being believable and over the top. This one drifts to much into the over the top for me. I'm also not happy with how they handled Mark Strongs character. Having him promoted, only to kill him off immediately. His scene was badass though. Still a decent movie for a evening.

It does happen in the same universe, and is absolutely the origin of the Kingsmen though, but treat it as a separate thing. Personally I think The Kingsman is the best of them so far.

Liked the first one more. Let us remember the comic book rule: if they don't die on camera (or in frame) then they didn't die. ... The double entendre with Elton John and the backstage pass never occurred to me. Thanks for that one! Yes, the Italian side jaunt was redundant, and the burgers were just gross. I've worked as a professional grill cook, and you don't mess with hamburger. Those suckers are cooked well done (usually 165 degrees) by default. They're as bad as chicken. #3 isn't to bad, as long as you go in knowing it's a prequel. Set around 1914.

I don’t quite remember and you guys didn’t show the entire scene but Harry’s first fight in the bar? I believe he missed with the beer mug because he has no depth perception and misjudged the shot. But with a little practice, he should be able to compensate fairly well.

Remember most the ski stuff with bond was when Broccoli hired an olympic skier for Her Majesty's Secret Service (has the rings on his jacket in the film playing a blowfield guard/henchman) he stayed on for stunt work and training through the Moore films at least. For your eyes only even used the winter olympic village as a location site. Another gag cameo person that was reused for several films in this period was the wine drinker that kept being shocked when Bond showed up. Car from the Sea, Gongola turn Hovercraft, Ski through the out door Cafe.

I don't completely dislike this film, it has some elements i enjoyed but it also annoyed me in a lot of ways. It falls quite far behind the first film for me. It felt like it lost some part of the originals DNA/charm & i don't know if it was in the way it was written or choice to introduce the American branch, it just all felt a bit odd. - Bringing Harry back didn't work for me, just making his character in this film & the first film weaker for it. - Blowing up all of Kingsman & killing off Roxy (especially so early) just felt like a desperate writing decision for shock value but completely wasted the solid foundations & character of Roxy that was built up in the first film & that should've played a bigger part in this film. - It seemed more interested in introducing as many new celebrities as possible rather then telling a decent story. - They upped the CGI tenfold & not being the best of quality or in some wacky settings, it was all so noticeable. - The Poppy character just feels underused, underdeveloped & went out like a wet fart. I know it's a film to switch the brain off & despite having it's good moments, it's just a shame it took such a dive in quality from the first.

26:12 - GLASTONBURY GALOSHES. This annual UK music festival is notable, not just for the exciting array of performers but also for the occasional rainstorms. And when it rains, it significantly pours. The 1990s had its fair share of thunderstorms with '98 Glastonbury being rated the muddiest of the decade. Apparently, Glastonbury 2007:is currently regarded as 'the wettest' Glasto ever.' Imagine... acres of green fields suddenly bombarded with non-stop rain for four straight hours, and over 100,000 pairs of feet repeatedly traversing backwards and forwards throughout every acre. Every step transforming slippery green grass into sticky brown mud. Within minutes a swamp is emerging. There's no point scraping undersides of footwear because there's no concrete pavement to provide refuge from the swampland. And yet, hardcore Glastonbury revellers don't mind at all. They consider extreme rainfall and muddy fields all part of the experience.
@djashley200210 ай бұрын
Actually Glasto 2005 was probably wetter - a large number of people actually had to swim from their tents for it after a torrential storm swept through overnight on the Thursday/Friday night with the rain not stopping until after midday (my tent stayed dry, but the idiots who had decided to camp on a dip in the path in front of me got flooded out. There was still a foot of water in front of the Pyramid stage when New Order did their set, and earlier in the day everyone got a good laugh when some coppers in a Range Rover drove into what they thought was shallow standing water flooded their engine after it came up to their bonnet and had to be towed out. Ironically, on the Sunday I got a nice dose of sunburn. 2007 was just muddy as @#£&! There was just enough rain to turn the ground into superglue!

The thing I appreciate is that while this one loses the novelty of the first one it feels like they connected everything so well even though the first one wasn't written like a lot of films are these days that can ruin them right out of the gate when they try to set up an entire franchise in the first movie without knowing if the audience even likes it. Or setting the first movie before the natural start point so you have to watch what is basically the setup for the actual thing you thought you'd be seeing. The Colin Firth and Charlie (apologies for not knowing the actor's name) returns feel like the whole thing was planned but they had no idea how to bring Firth back or if he'd even want to come back. If they make a third one (I'm not counting Kings Man since it's a prequel) I'm sure they'll come up with some way to bring Mark Strong back. Or I hope. Merlin is maybe my favourite character.
