@@evXNYC alright. Maybe it's a bit too late lol, but how about tyre wear? I had issues with early tyre wear on my old KS-14D. But truth be told, perhaps I was using it much more than it was designed for. My 16X original tyre has about 2x the mileage of the original one from my old 14D. And it'll still get 1x more before I think about replacing it. Tyre width counts. But so does diameter. "Maybe it's a bit too late" - because I'm about to upgrade...

As someone that owns an 18L (with XL battery pack) and who spent two weeks testing a 16X, my answer is clear. Although the 18XL has classic styling and a great powertrain, the 16X could do everything the 18XL does (go fast and far smoothly) in addition to being more agile and more able to handle non-road terrain with the 3 inch tire. 16X is my clear winner.

@Ylte5 жыл бұрын
Good comparison, but I do find it strange to claim that the 16x is better than the 18x off-road. First it is the wheel diameter, where larger is clearly better when there are roots and rocks in your way. Second, a narrower tyre is more nimble, because of less rotating mass, which allows you to go faster through rough terrain, they can operate with a higher tyre pressure without becoming bouncy, and it has more grip, because of more weight on a smaller footprint. Wide tyres do have an advantage on loose surfaces, if you lower your tyre pressure. For me the 16x is a urban wheel, borderline Z10 novelty, and the 18x is still the jack off all traits king. It is much easier to learn how to balance your self for high speed stability than it is to have fun maneuvering a train. I do not hope wide tyres becomes the norm.

Has anyone had any problems with NYPD stopping you or issuing a summons? Also, some trains & buses do not allow you to take the EUCS onboard, but on NJ transit trains I have seen the electric scooters. My colleagues say you can take the e-wheels on NJT buses, but they have to be put in the cargo spaces. Some bus drivers will give you a hard time.

Only been riding 2 1/2 months , 16s and then 16x and iM already thinking of a new wheel . 18XL is on my radar and it seems interesting since i hear it has better comfort and stability sacrificing torque and some maneuverability compared to the 16x. But...i don't think i want to spend another 2000 just to add minor tweaks to riding. Ill stick with 16x for now. I think the clear upgrade from any of these wheels would be the sherman, latest gotway wheels, or V11 . The time i would get any of those wheels once they start shipping out from the factory at the time of writing this comment, would be when it start snowing here in Maine. So prob will wait till next year when hopefully their is no more wait time to to secure the next generation of wheels, and the snow subsides. Good video evX!

Nice review. I guess that would answer a lot of die-hard Kingsong fans' questions, but in reality, more neutral folk would be asking how each of these wheels stack up to what other brands have to offer. Anyway, we are blessed in the EUC community to at least have some choice. I'd love to see how an American manufacturer, or even a German or Japanese maker would make these things. Would we get the 'Apple' of EUCs? Or the Mercedes or Sony equivalents? China has this one in the bag, doesn't it? 😉
@evXNYC5 жыл бұрын
MAtt Gytrash i mean when I’ve talked to Hsiang about this, he’s convinced it isn’t a hard piece of tech to produce. China just happened to dive in. If a more western country started making these, i think the first thing we would see is redundancy with the control boards and a smaller backup battery for when you draw too much power. - as far as these stacking up? It’s a hard metric to establish since these wheels are more focused on the ride experience and safety, compared to say a GotWay wheel that is all about speed and nothing else.
@gytrash5 жыл бұрын
ev X: I guess in America and Europe clarity is most in need at the moment. Secondly, a regulatory framework for manufacture. Once these are in place, and if that combined package was attractive to both consumers and producers, these things could really take off. The West is way too slow off the mark, sadly and China will have all these issues figured anyway long before the first factories over here are tooled up! ☹️ Well more power to them, I say. Let China reap the reward for being ahead of the curve.

hi bro, can you let me know that brand/model of your black roll top rucksack - it would go well with my Z10. Thanks
@frankhernandez1335 жыл бұрын
To clarify a few comparisons; the 18XL pedals are at 10” length while the 16X are at 9.5”. How much does/could that half inch differ the ride comfort? From your experience, how does less width & more height create better “stability” &/or “longevity” for a tire or the model? Long distance ride is noted about the 16X just before statements about its speed. With both models having equal top speed, what is the downside to “top speed being limited” earlier?
@evXNYC5 жыл бұрын
Frank Hernandez it’s more about the wheel diameter. 18” is always more stable. Buuut the 16”x3” makes it super close in stability. Downside of top speed being limited earlier: less fun sooner if you’re an aggressive fast rider. But they fixed this in the latest V1.07 firmware update. 😎

I would have to say after a 12 week experience of riding the KS18XL It is perfect for street only'. Sand on concrete, gravel, and mountain trail type settings, I don't see an average rider being able to ride that terrain. Maybe I suck but that thin tire sticks to pavement but dirt and sand roads feel scary loose. I'm gonna try that wider tire and like my friend on a Z10 ride off road.

Unless you live somewhere near a jungle, then all your roads are paved and no need to talk about offroading. I am at crossroads re what to get as well: 18xl or 16x. My needs are - 1) keeping the speeds of up to 25-30 mph the longest without recharging (you say 16x drops after 50%); 2) longest range in the same conditions (90kg with my backpack and almost no hills in warm weather); 3) ease of transportation on public transport (weight, wheeling around); I am currently fine with my 16s and only rarely wish I had more top speed on empty parts of the road. It is mostly my last mile friend and so if I switch, I need a reason (top speed + range increased). I ride a Z750, a bicycle and a car as well so the euc is for local trips and last mile rides (although I do ride to work which is around 5 miles away and it lasts me for almost 1.5 trips to and fro)

ev X planning to)) thank you, amigo. Hope you get your break on YT. Do diversify your content as well, the euc community is small even though growing. Legal uncertainty is holding it back for now. Keep focused on your wheel, ride safe! Greetings from sunny Tbilisi))

The Kingsong 18XL is very heavy (over 50 lbs!) if you need to lug it.

I've watched all of your KS16X videos like 4 times, and countless other ones, and I still don;'t know which EUC to consider for my first one. I am looking to get one in a few months, I am a very big guy (6'3", 260lbs), and live in NYC. Have any recommendations for a newbie? I want something to grow into for sure.

Whenever i meet anyone that weighs around 250 i have 2 suggestions: KS18XL & GotWay Monster. Pros to the monster are the heights, axel weigh limit, and high speed. Cons, the shell is very fragile compared to other wheels, pedal clearance is a little lower than the latest wheels. 18XL pros: axel weight limit, smooth feel, high pedal clearance, durable shell. Cons: top speed is only a true 29mph (despite KS saying it’s 31), and torque is not as good. So 18XL should be good for you, but a monster might be your end result if you grow out of that wheel.

@@evXNYC thanks! The turnoff with the monster is the weight and no trolly. I am absolutely going to look into the 18X more. Thanks for the response!

Giuseppe Vaccaro also look out for the new 100v MSX. Should be fine with your weight too.

Ended up going with the 18XL. Learned it in a few hours and just took it out for a few laps around prospect park. Love it so far! Thanks for the recommendation dude, hope to see you in one of those famed NYC group rides!

This bugged KS16 Shit is a extasy for slow worms . 6 firmwares left and it's still bad. Just wasting money. Nikola Plus or Monster all the way. Tesla v.2, mcm5 for low cost runners.
