People don’t understand that KT is the Frankel of the 80s. They both had both stayer and sprinter pedigree. KT had German stayer pedigree. This is why he was so versatile; so brilliant!!!

A true champion. When TJ can't separate him from Tulloch .. . The King would have butchered Winx over 2400m-3200m. You gotta feel she would have the edge from 1200m-1600m. Over 2040m at Moonee Valley, if they'd raced three times I'd say 2-1 to the King. Mind you, Sunline would have picked them both up and carried them over 1200-1400m. And probably 1600m.

1 of his qualities is that he was versatile. And he also had a very high pain threshold as he spent most of his career carrying injury. Basically, he was never sound and was still able to defeat quality racehorses. What a champion.

I backed against him as a 2y old he got knocked over 2-3 times and way back and all of a sudden it was like he was shot out of a cannon and killed the big field I backed a Colin Hayes horse he shot clear at huge odds , but Kingston town was a freak, today we have Winx but the king was a better horse being able to win big long distance cups too consistently and should have won the Melbourne cup but for poor judgement on Mal. Johnston. Winx is the better of the 2 up to about the cox plate distance, any further and the king would eat him up, I was at the valley when Bill said he couldn't win, I was at the start of the home turn, the video doesn't do that race justice he was so wide .

It's such a shame he never ran in the Sydney Autumn again after his 3yo season.

Who was better do you think, Kingston Town or Winx at their peak ? I never saw Kingston Town race before these videos, but I always thought Winx had the fastest burst sprint. It would have been a good race over 2000m between the 2 horse I reckon.

Over 2000m then probably Winx but you need to remember that Kingston Town ran and won all the way from 1200m to 3200m. Over 2400m to 3200m the Kingston Town, under 1600m also Kingston Town. Before his injury it would be a close call at any distance. A freak.

@@mikerat007 yeah I noticed in the highlights I saw in this video before the injury, he had that acceleration and was winning by a long way, but after he came back from that injury, he didnt seem to be the same, but instead, he showed more heart and fight, then speed and still won.

She was great but before his injury she wouldn't have beat him how can you give something thats as fast if not faster a start impossible he was the most amazing horse achieving what he did with his injuries.

I would go as far to say that as an Autumn three year old no horse that’s ever raced in Australia could beat Kingston Town. It’s amazing what he did after that with such bad legs.

Not as good after the injury. Part one of these tapes is the Kingston town i remember. Absolute freak. Be a brave man to say Winx is better than this horse. Met much better horses than Winx. 1200 -3200. Could hold a position and had explosive power. Different horse to Winx. Bloody Enable. This horse would eat Enable over 2400. Not sure about Winx.
