Kingston Wall remains triumphant! In all honesty, you will never hear better rock music coming from Finland. Petri Walli (the guitarist and band leader) was definitely Jimi's reincarnation. As you enjoyed this tune as much as you did, I can only whole-heartedly recommend listening to all of their three albums ('I', 'II' and 'III Tri-Logy' respectively) - you will not be disappointed. It's intense, it's energetic, it's electrifying and mystifying, all of it. Shine on!

Wrong place, wrong time. From finnish bands Hanoi Rocks to Smack. Kingston Wall played prog rock in the grunge era, so there were were very lilte interest for the group. Nowdays it doesen't sell, but there is some what international market for bands like Von Herzen Bros.

One of the best bands ever, and the best from Finland. Great reaction video from you to this masterpiece. Commenting on the lyrics at around 1:12 "See my future, see a dead man" - So sad to think that the composer/guitarist/singer Petri Walli died two years later after jumping from a church tower :(

Ah the good old days when musicians were really involved in the wonderful sound as well as the vocalist. Excellent playing with very intricate and full of brilliant runs and riffs ..transports you what a treat for us thank you

i like your interpretation of the meaning of the song. i always figured it was a lament of unrequited love, or perhaps a plea to the universe from a suicidally depressed man, but nature and the sun in particular certainly had great significance to petri walli and featured heavily as themes in many of kingston wall's songs. cheers

Damn dude, you really did it! Great to see your reaction and I'm glad you liked it. I agree, it is a crime that people haven't heard this song, it's so damn good everytime. That's why I'm spreading the word haha. They are a Finnish band, as I've heard you like some other Finnish bands as well. Keep up the good work brother!

People haven't heard only this song, they haven't heard about the band altogether. And yes indeed, it is a great wrong that needs to be corrected :D Kingston Wall's legacy needs to be spread, it must never be forgotten!

I'm an American living in Finland over 30 years now. I friend of mine turned me on to this around 2010. I almost cried. It hit my soul. And how sad to hear that this guineas is not with us anymore. 🙁❤🙏

Kingston Wall is the best rock band from Finland. Definitely worth cheking out all their work. Personally i like this second album the most. 1st had more Hendrix vibes on it, and 3rd is bit more experimental. All great albums, but i think the 2nd is the sweet spot between older and bit newer types of prog rock.

the description you read of the band makes sense, especially the Jimi Hendrix influence...Jimi's "Little Wing" was the foundation through the whole song...I'm interested to hear what else they have

It's probably already been said, but it's worth listening to the entire production from start to finish. it is one entity and a fine work of art.

Awesome reaction to a great band! I also took note that you like metal, so if you're not familiar with Amorphis yet, I suggest you take a look at it. It's a Finnish band just like Kingston Wall was and it's obvious how Kingston Wall was a huge influence to Amorphis. They've covered Kingston Wall's song And I Hear You Call and the sax/flute guy Sakari Kukko has been visiting multiple albums of theirs, most notably Tuonela and Am Universum. While the KW influence started to push through more from Elegy and especially Tuonela onwards, you must not miss the Tales From the Thousand Lakes album if you dive into Amorphis.

While we don't have Petri around anymore, Jukka Jylli and Sami Kuoppamäki have done long careers as professional musicians. Lots of bands are doing Kingston Wall covers these days.

Couldnt share More Your Feelings! Known KWs music from 90s and the bassist Jukka Jylli was My neste friend as a Kid. I started to play guitar 2 years ago and lately got an idea to play this and recently also to perform It in jam-bars. The Song is so capturing that I am losing concentration on My other daily Life 😁.

I'm from Finland. My mother knew Pete Walli quite good and I've been like just learned to walk when I was first seeing them live but I'm born -91 so don't remember anything about it. To me drummer Sami Kuoppamäki is greatest drummer in the world mad also Jukka Jylli I'd one greatest bass players. Of course I love Petri Walli too but I think the rhythm group is what is the the greatest thing in this band. Listen their cover of Jimi Hendrix song Fire and then u can see how great this drummer is.

Just to make that saxophone track a bit better, it was improvised by Sakari Kukko in studio when they recorded it. It was stated in a book that he supposedly didn't majority of his stuff improvised if I remember right

More of this stuff: - The Real Thing (Full song) kzbin.info/www/bejne/hIWVlqicaa-rZpI, - With my mind (live) kzbin.info/www/bejne/haTMk5Vvi5unrrc (More vocals, but the sound quality sadly isn´t so good) Also one suggestion: listening the whole album(s) through - they´re made that way, they go on straight from one piece to another without stops in between - and the former usually kinda bilds up to the latter. - I kzbin.info/aero/PLIrjthTfp2x8Yf68MNm29Dp_uu3RAxp7q - II kzbin.info/aero/PLF9A7793B771CD589 - III TriLogy kzbin.info/aero/PL6E50095638529124 - More live: the whole gig at lepakko 1994 kzbin.info/www/bejne/eYmcZHuwodCnm5Y ( I think this might be a better example of the jamming) & Yo-talo 1993 kzbin.info/www/bejne/moWonmuNn6hpjLs - I think it could be better if you first listen to the albums - so that you´ll notice they play live a bit different - they were famous for jamming, freestyling quite a lot while live. So there´s quite a bit stuff live that you won´t find in the albums :)

They don´t excist any more - after the passing of walli - but in the recent years the memebers who are alive have gathered a group (with von Herzen brothers - who are excellent musicians, too) with which it did gigs again (until covid) kzbin.info/www/bejne/sF7IqnywftekhKc I had the pleasure to see them live, and it was one of the best gigs I´ve ever felt. Though the ones who did manage to experience it live in 1993-94 said the old gigs were in whole another level. I´m glad, though, I got to see at least the bit i got.

Hey Mike, I'd like to recommend another track to you from experimental electronic metal artist Igorrr. I've already recommended a live concert video from them, but put that one on hold for now because they've just released another one and I think I like this one even more. Wonderfully produced live video, too. It's called IGORRR - Opus Brain LIVE at Pol'And'Rock Festival 2021. Hope you get a chance to check them out.
