In generation 1 critical hits ignore all stat changes, even ones that would increase the attack's damage. You doubled it for the critical hit, that means you need to divide dodrio's attack by 4. Obviously you should just halve the damage and remove the critical hit. If all overflows and caps are to be ignored, I actually found a setup for Gen 1 and 2 (I don't think you could do it in Gen 3, as wild Double Battles don't exist there) that'd do more; have a wild Ditto transform into your Paras/Yanma as part of the setup, so that badge boosts apply, including the type-based ones in Gen 2. Oh, and, a level 5 Ledyba would be the best option for Gen 3, since at the minimum it'd have 7 Defense, which would become 1 at -6 stat stages.
@twoloavesofbread4 күн бұрын
Wild pokemon can't swap into other party members, though, so how would the existing Gen 2 setup with substitute work? Or does that still do more than -6 defense?
@awesomelink23474 күн бұрын
@@twoloavesofbread Ah, you're right, I didn't consider that. I think it might be possible to get a better number for Gen 8... you can have a Pokémon that's 32× weak to fire by using Tar Shot and Forest's Curse on a Snom with Fluffy or Dry Skin. That would make V-Create a 5760 base power move, as opposed to Rollout's 3840.
@thesharpestknife3 күн бұрын
Heat Crash with the doubled damage from the target using Minimize is even stronger than V-Create, effectively 7680 base power. We choose Fluffy over Dry Skin because the multiplier is higher, but Heat Crash usually makes contact, which would cancel the Fluffy bonus. To avoid this, we hit a substitute, because that never makes contact. If I've done the math right, this comes out to 1,081,085,184 damage.

Electric Terrain is only x1.3 boost to electric attacks. It’s been like that since Gen 8. Also BBND was absolutely reasonable. The National Dex is one of the only reason why you’d play Pokemon over other monster catching games since Pokemon was the only game franchise that let you use literally everything from before. Additionally we were promised better animations and other means of compensation for Dexit that were ultimately false or never came to life.
@DoctorNovakaine2 күн бұрын
Those false promises were hiding the real reason Dexit happened: because they were still refusing to break from their ridiculously crunched 3-year schedule despite the fact that they were clearly incapable of keeping up with it. It was a way to cut down on the amount of testing work they had to do, because they still weren't willing to accept that they needed a fundamental change in release schedule philosophy. MAYBE they've finally learned. Even if they have, they're probably still not going to have a mainline game with all Pokémon available, but maybe not forcing a 3-year turnaround will at least let the games have better technical performance.

why yanma in gen 2 over ledyba?
@plutonicattic79954 күн бұрын
dunno, ledyba can be lvl 3 as well as having lower defensive stats.

So I am working on a (currently ice boxed for other projects) fangame and I just realized you'd salivate over a new ability I'm adding Draconic pressense Increases dragon move power by 1.5x Opposing fire electric grass and water moves deal damage with a halved offensive stat while ice dragon and fairy deal damage with a doubled offensive stat It basically is adding dragon type. It is skill swappable, and it works on dragons. Noibat with it and forests curse would take 32x ice damage

Between Shuckle and Yanma, never underestimate the Bug type's ability to stay relevent to highest damage discussions; whether it's by dealing or recieving it.

As someone who looked at doing this before, here's my notes: Gen1: Has attack cap. So a lot of Pokémon meets the requirement for max possible damage. I'll note it but assume we'll ignore that since we're already ignoring damage overflow. Crit ignores your attack boost, so we don't want that. Badge boosts are applied to non-link battles, twice if the mon has Burn/Paralysis. My set-up didn't have it though. I had Solar Beam Exeggutor, vs. Lv.3 Geodude. Since Psychic is the only way to lower Special, I have an defender side Jigglypuff lower my Attacker side Jigglypuff Special, to not ohko Geodude, then swap Geodude in lower its stats. Rest on both side as needed. The two options are: 110 Dodrio, 140 Sky Attack, and lv.5 link Paras, or lv.8 wild Paras 125 Exeggutor, 120 Solar Beam, and lv.3 link Geodude (wild Geodude would die lowering Special) I did not do the math, so I don't know which is higher. Gen2: There's a 5992 cap, 8988 cap with sun/rain. I did not write in my notes what the cap exactly is, but Bone Club Marowak is mentioned. I'm ignoring the cap again here. Lv.3 Ladyba as the target, but that's about it. Gen3: Eggs are still only lv.5 at the time. A level 2 can use Mimic/Assist to call Transform, giving us a lv.2 target in this gen (but still has a stat of 2 with -6 modifires from a lv.5 Ladyba). I had Rydon again here, I didn't think about using Color Change. 68,627,896 using Rydon. Gen4/5: Yeah Shuckle has been long figured out by now. Gen6(XY): There's no Calc done for this gen, but read gen7. Gen6 (ORAS): Allows us to use inverse battle Normalized Flying Press for more damage (32x type multiplier against Aron with Trick-or-Treat). But it involves secret bases, a limit of 3 Pokémon on each side (max 4 if a double battle is used instead of Triple), and the foe to be controlled by the ai. The post from reddit had 1,188,311,040 damage, but there was more optimizing that could of been done. Gen7: Power Trip Me First Electrify Pikachu does more damage, with Charge and Electric Terrain boost. 645,647,908 damage for this game. Gen8: Electric Terrain is now 1.3x multiplier. Gen9: While it has a description, Electrify has the flag set to false on being usable. It also has the flag set to false on being called by Metronome. If the above wasn't the case, the few Metronome exclusive moves can be Sketched, so it's something that can be prepared beforehand. I get confused on where the different boosts go, so I'll let someone else do the math. Edit:fix ORAS part.

And of course that doesn't include Glitches like Rollout Storage and stuff like that.

TIL the boost on Rollout from Defense Curl is permanent as long as you remain on the field and doesn't need to be used immediately before each Rollout to get the bonus.

I loved this video, but it made me wonder. What would be the max damage if there was no dexit or removal of moves? What if, in a hypothetical scenario, that our trainers had access to all gameplay modes and gimmicks. What would a triple battle with terastalization utilizing the entire National Dex look like? My other thought was: What about O-Powers and the other generational gimmicks that increased your power? How would that affected each total?
@dragonslayerz22204 күн бұрын
Gen 1 has a few issues: First, 999 stat cap, meaning any pokemon that can hit 999 offense is optimal. Second, Crits ignore stat boosts and are therefore suboptimal. Third, Crits are not a 2x multiplier.
@dragonslayerz22204 күн бұрын
Gen 2 appears to have no issues, aside from the still-present 999 stat cap.
@dragonslayerz22204 күн бұрын
Gen 3 can't get a level 1 yanma due to eggs still hatching at level 1. No more stat cap though!

In Generation 1 you could Mimic to copy Mirror Move and then use Mirror Move to copy both Swords Dance and Sky Attack. With this you could use Dragonite with its higher Attack stat.

On the gen 7 record you could use a lv1 ditto to transform into altaria, effectively increasing the dmg output since levels are factored in when calculating dmg
