MichaelB a couple of points. First this uses an enterprise class refurbished drive. This is a good thing as these drives are designed to be on 24/7 in a server. Second this isn't a fully plug and play drive, some drivers must be installed as per the readme file at the root of the drive. Last of all, as you mentioned several times, running newer systems requires a beefier PC and GPU. Overall I'm VERY HAPPY WITH THIS DRIVE, I have a different version (there are many) without PS3, PS4, or PS5. Gives you access to a ton of games and should you ever buy a retro handheld it's a great source for ROMs without the need for searching or downloading.

Just got this hard drive and been playing with it for hours. I do consider myself an expert on emulation and could build this myself but I can assure you guys it would take months to years to set something like this up depending on how you go about it. So far everything has worked with controls including the pinball stuff and all the obscure stuff. All the teknoparot stuff is working and pretty much everything I've tested so far. Only a few systems like switch and a few others did not have control setup but most of the controls are set. The only other gripe is you might have to use the esc key or alt 4 to close some systems as the pre programed two button process on the Xbox controller does not close everything but closes most systems. If something is not working its probably related to the individual setup. This is definitely the real deal and would advise to grab it while you still can as something this good is never meant to last..

Forgot to mention that there are some other installation steps to add some font and .NET stuff. The unfortunate thing is that Microsoft Defender finds several Sever and High Risk files on the drive after you scan the entire drive. So, best not to add this stuff to any PC that is going to have access to internet and you have nothing important on your PC just in case there's some Trojans and key stroke loggers. Also, there are still several non-functioning games, mechanical pinball games and duplicates on the drive. I could not start any of the Philips CD-i games, it just comes to title menu and you can't get it to do anything. I used to have a CD-i system and back in those days it was a lot of family fun (had a large collection of CDs too).

Any flash drive, M.2 drive in an enclosure, or laptop/desktop ssd or mechanical hdd drive in an enclosure. Depending on the size you can get, add batocera, source your roms and system bios files. From this point, it's a simple matter of rebooting your pc and booting off the drive, setting up your controller of choice, either wired through USB or Bluetooth, then running updates, and if you have extra room, running a scraper for game images and descriptions. The working systems are going to depend on the hardware power of the PC they're connected to, and how optimized the emulators are.

Great video Mike, that's not a bad price for a 12TB drive. I paid $254 for an 18TB drive and installed RetroBat. KinHank has been notorious for not curating their game list, looks like it is a bit more cleaned up in this version (from what I could see, not as many duplicates). All-around, a decent buy.

My son bought me a Kinhank MiniPc system with 60,000 games for Xmas and it works great. He was going to get me one of these, but was hesitant because of possible viruses or malware being on it that won't be detected. I don't want to hook this up to my PC. I want to hook this up in my living room to my 50-in HDTV. This isn't like the other one they have out where it's an Android box hooked up to an hdd. I think that one you can plug into your TV. I understand the one you're looking at because it has to run off the power of the PC. I have a raspberry pi for now and I like it but it's got its issues and Saturn and Dreamcast games really don't run on it. I want one that I can buy and not have to worry about buying another one also with light gun games

For me the most old games run totally slow ... if I press the space bar it switches to hyperfast ... I have a Ryzen 9 3900X with 64GB RAM and Geforce 3090-Ti ... should not have such a problem. All Drivers and the font which come with the harddrive are installled. It seems this is an issue of the RetroArch emulator which is used for almost all consoles. (tried different cores and frame skipping settings ... did not change anything) By manually loading the games with the emulator I found out that they run at normal speed in a smaller window. When I pull the window bigger in size the emulator can not hold the speed and slows down until I decrease the size again. Does anyone have an idea what could be the case ?

Be very very careful with the Kinhank drives I bought the 12 TB and before using I ran webroot on it. I am only 20 percent thru and it has found 6 different malwares. They may have sent you a "clean version" but this one definitely is not !! Be super super careful and scan it and don't connect it to your wireless !!

Mine has wild arms. I just got the 12T it cost 300 dollars. I love RPGs also. Just plugged it in and realize that the people I watch mislead me on the capability of this mini PC. So I will eventually buy another one which sucks. I was wondering if you can explain to me in a message how to change things to make the games work? I just chose ff9 on PS1 and it was barely running and the music was mutilated. I luckily found the resolution on core and took it from 5x to 3x. 2x and 1x makes it not even work. But I can't find frameskip or anything else to improve it. Please help thanks

Set resolution to 720P low settings I'm using the GMKtech K2 and run almost everything with very few exceptions. I use 720 low mostly for more demanding games. To be honest it's only limited by the GPU with the option of adding a external GPU.

@@collectibles4u I luckily figured out how to fix it so that works better. Not perfect yet but playable. First I realized that the mini PC was set to save earth mode at 29 hertz. So I changed it to max 60 hertz. But it still wasn't perfect for PS1. Then I turned off shaders and it is almost perfect now. Still have temporary freezing on PSP and GameCube. I have only tried out PSP PS1 PS2 and GameCube so far. It's still missing something though to make it perfect like he claims it's able to do. Something most likely with the settings on the PC. I don't think it's anything to do with the external hard drive. What else can I change on the PC besides the hertz? Since you have the same PC. And where the hell is frameskip on the external hard drive. And why do the Japanese games that say it's been translated to english aren't actually translated? And what do I need to do to Xbox to play the games? It comes up magazines WTH?
