Most likely a Naruto reference. Their Japanese VA are Naruto and Sasuke, the two are known to accidentally kiss a few times, one around the first episodes and a second (really similar to this one) was when the two hands were glued together by some weird goo and tried to break it by jumping off a waterfall that had an edge between the water and they wanted to use it to break it, however it backfired as the goo was really elastic, it did like a slingshot and sent them flying pulling them closer for a kiss.
