[KiniNews] Following the Federal Court's decision affirming the non-Muslim status of her three unilaterally converted children, a tearful Loh Siew Hong urged the Perlis Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (Maips) to leave her and her family alone.
Loh, a single mother, expressed that her 15-year-old twin daughters and 12-year-old son have endured four years of suffering since their father, Muhammad Nagahswaran Muniandy, converted them to Islam in 2020.
“I do not want Maips to disturb me. Leave me alone. Enough,” the 36-year-old pleaded, supported by her legal team led by lawyer A Srimurugan at the lobby of the Palace of Justice in Putrajaya.

There is no compulsion in Islam. It's in the Quran. Second chapter. Can't remember which verse. I'm a Muslim. (Opening myself up to the risk of being lambasted by fellow Muslims.) Allah said in the Quran (which is the word of God) that there should be no compulsion in Islam. Islam simply means submission to God. Hence, Muslims should not compel other Muslims to act this way, that way, etc, and Muslims should not force others to adopt or follow their religion. It is when THE STATE gets involved, that things get messy. When the state considers itself the guardian of religion etc then interpretation of the Quran is seen through the lens of codified law or codified norms. I am not pro or anti law. I am a Muslim, and a proud Malaysian. What my race is does not matter. But it is stated in the Quran - let there be no compulsion in religion. And I wish many small-minded half-illiterate under-educated self-appointed Muslim "teachers" would stop bastardising the line between the law and religion and understand the Quran is God's final word and it states clearly, let there be no compulsion in religion. And to all the bots or keyboard warriors who may attack me, go for it. Just know Imma get on with my life and ignore your comments.
