The film about Stirlitz - 17 Moments of Spring - appeared on our TV screens in 1973. This film was not your run-of-the-mill war movie. The film was made with talent. An unusual scenario that convinces the viewer of the veracity of what is happening. A wonderful director and a wonderful ensemble of actors. Everything was beautifully done, it looked exciting... For me, this film entered into a dialogue with Mikhail Romm’s documentary “Ordinary Fascism.” Stirlitz - documented with quotes from fascist papers - persistently explained to the viewer that the USSR is not what we think... The USSR is an extraordinary fascism... And the proof was the KGB Prize of the USSR and orders to authors and actors
