"Kinoko Teikoku (きのこ帝国, literal translation "Mushroom Empire") was a four-piece Shogaze/Indie Rock band formed in 2007 by Chiaki Sato (Vo, Gtr), A-chan (Gtr), Shigeaki Taniguchi (Ba) and Nishimura "Kon" (Dr). The band name came from both A-chan's outfit looking like a mushroom and the band Yura Yura Teikoku.
On May 27, 2019, bassist Taniguchi left the band to take over the family business as a monk. The band went on an indefinite hiatus on the same day."
