I am in Tiya, at the border between the Oromo region, and the Gurage zone, in Ethiopia.
I go to have breakfast with some friendly Gurage people, before visiting the tourist site of Tiya.
After that, I resume my journey across the country, heading South. On the way, I find myself racing with a horse cart, and finally, I reach Butajira, where I eat, for the first time, some delicious African cheese, a Gurage specialty.

I usually get bored of travel vlogs after a couple of minutes in and never manage to finish one, but you are truly something else! I just watched an over half an hour video without realising how long it was and I was disappointed when it ended, wishing it was much longer! You are such an inspiring person, I am going through a phase in my life where I am trying to break through from what I am expected to do and finally start doing what makes me happy... and seeing your happy face along with the realisation that you are doing what makes you happy, was incredible and made me genuinely smile! Please never stop making these videos!

Coffee with salt or butter is the way it was consumed traditionally. Remember Ethiopians have been drinking coffee for a very long time - long long before sugar made it on the scene. It is funny that as a city person, I find drinking coffee with salt/butter weird - but my family in rural area find drinking coffee with sugar weird. They used to buy sugar - just for me when I go to visit.

Kocho is made from false banana,is a bread-like fermented food made from chopped and grated ensete pulp. The pseudo-stem of the ensete plant contains a pith that is collected, pulped, and mixed with yeast before being fermented for three months to two years. It is used as a staple in Ethiopian cuisine in place of or alongside injera. It’s very healthy! 😋

The Ethiopian aromatic collard green is cooked and finely chopped and saute with spices and butter. The bread he's eating, the ingredient is from false banana. Complicated process after fermenting several months it turns to be a dough and backed like that. Very healthy and delicious. It's name is Kocho .

Absolutely refreshing content. We had locals, local food, history, excitement, bike rides, new foods, and a smiling happy guy throughout. You're pretty unique. Glad I found your content & you :).

Yves, I've been binge watching your videos... this is my first time in the comments section! Just wanted to tell you your ability to persevere in spite of obstacles and challenges that would dog most people's resolve is uncanny! I commend your iron will, and spirit of exploration, and your genuine compassion for people, despite their unwarranted ill treatment towards you. I have a lot of respect for you individually and your fellow Frenchmen should be proud of your bravery and resilience. I thank you for sharing your travels, and showing the beauty of God's creation all over this world! Be safe, and may God watch over you.

@Kino: very nice. Glad that the people are more relaxed regarding your filming. PS: a) you might have heard it already but "kocho" is made from the stem of the false-banana plant known as "enset". Enset is the staple food item in the Guraghe region & in many parts of southern Ethiopia. b) The word "ferenji" [white people] is a corruption of the word "French". The French were among the first & better-known "ferenjis" [whites] to help with the modernisation process in Addis Ababa & in Eastern parts of the country from their base/colony of Djibouti. For example, the French helped build the Djibouti-to-Addis Ababa railway thus linking the landlocked ex-Abyssinia [Ethiopia] to the port of Djibouti [an ex-French enclave/colony].

I think Kocho is a bread made from false banana flour. The Gurages are well known with Kocho and it is special for them.
