Well that's an ego boost! Thanks. Also check out the follow-up video on non-steady state conditions.

Glad to hear it. RER can be a little confounding at first, but it is super interesting to see how we can get a sense of fuel usage by the body and fitness status from just analysis of respiratory gases during exercise.

Hi Sarah, Great video. I've been on a weight cut since Jan 24th and recently got an IC done. The results were: RQ: 1.01, REE: 2080. VO2: 0.288L/min, VCO2: 0.292 L/min, CHO: 431 gr/day (86% / day), Fat:-29gr / day (-2% / day) Pro/day: 63gr/day (13%); My question is, is this good or bad for weight loss? I was wondering how, if at all, could I use my high carb RQ to determine insights into my diet and how I could further tailor my diet based on these results. For example, my average daily dietary carb consumption is roughly 140g /day. Given these results, can I eat 431 g / carbs per day and not worry about weight gain (this seems ridiculous)? Ty.

I'snt there supposed to be a ratio of RER (0.8 RER) that indicates Muscle Protein is being used as Fuel? *Not an expert and just a guy asking :)

Why is it that you would need 23 oxygen molecules to get rid of the carbon in a fatty acid (which has 16C), while with a glucose which has 6C you need 6 Oxygen molecules? Makes absolutely no sense to me :(
