IKR the TWO cultural variations of contouring gives "Cookie Cutter Bitches" vibes, as contouring became about alterations to perceived bone structure more than enhancements to our existing bone structures these days. When it first came out, people used to enhance their natural features, and we'd get a variety between rounded lush cheeks, cute heart faces, to what we see today where everyone is about HIGH sharp cheekbones. It's one thing to add definition to your own cheekbone shape, but it's another to lift the line and pretend you have Native American cheekbones. That's exactly what the makeup filters are suggesting for everyone. Don't even get me started on the nose, because that's what I mean about two cultural variations, but on a positive note it's a better alternative to plastic surgery probably. I personally prefer to asianify my Polynesian nose since I already have an inner epicenthal fold, but I usually don't do anything at all to it because why? I'm not ashamed of my nostrils! But the more I think of it, maybe it's the makeup version of what we do with hair: the whole grass-is-greener on-the-other-side thing applies where straight-haired people love curly hair and curly-haired people love straight hair. Except we're not always exploring what we personally prefer, instead succumbing to a trend-biased society is based in sexuality, and therefore reproduction. Makeup isn't always for that, I personally use it to make myself feel good in a long-term relationship, but when I was looking for a partner it certainly was a potent tool. That being said I wish society wasn't so focused on sexuality, because human overpopulation is introducing new problems to our planet. Sorry I went sideways on the topic but I'm stoned and overthink everything.. but I think the pride in continuing each unique bloodline is part of our obsession with appearing attractive to society. I mean, look at body shape trends, and tell me that it's not the same thing. It's to the point women objectify themselves. That's the entire con job. Or maybe, like I said, I'm just stoned. Oh my God this thought process is still going in my head as I keep editing! So if this is the con job, then as we reflect what society reflects up on us, think about what advertisements do: they dress something up with a bunch of fake shit that isn't edible to make it look like what they think we think looks good. The middle-aged women in this video are doing the exact same thing: advertising that they can wash clothes/clean/cook, then advertising they can become a younger/fuckable version of themselves as a service, like these other services. Aren't us women doing the same, trying to put forth what we don't naturally have like every single one of us is a crossdresser? I mean you can't really criticize the con job without criticizing every aspect of society, because every single woman man and child reflects what we've absorbed throughout our lives. All of us are guilty of putting forth out to the world what we think looks good. When I think of men doing it, I think of their cool cars or nice trucks. We make dick jokes all the time about the size of their vehicles, as a society. What's popular is dictated by what's considered sexy in the current decade, and as I said that's utterly ridiculous because there are way too many humans on this planet, IMHO THIS OBSESSION WITH REPRODUCTION NEEDS TO STOP. I'm all for ALL men embracing makeup, I'd like to see what they do with it and how they alter the culture. ーSincerely, a Pansexual advocating for Asexual Makeup.

I'm a European lady and I lived in China for a few years and there were studios where you could have photo shoots for fun or special occasions. I did one and my friend, a Chinese girl, did one too. I saw photos other friends had done before and they all chose loads of filters and airbrushing, cheesy backgrounds and costumes so I didn't recognize them at all. They made themselves SO pale (like a statue made of marble) and any beauty marks they had that made them unique were removed. My photos were good, and I had fun posing, but my friend looked like a professional model! She asked for minimal airbrushing, no filters, she wore her own casual clothes that showed her style, chose a neutral backdrop and told them to keep her natural skin tone. She had skin with an olive tone and it was really clear as she rarely wore makeup. She looked incredibly beautiful, and her confidence shone like a ray of sunshine in the photos. I wish everyone could love what makes them unique rather than what is considered fashionable or society's current beauty norms. ❤

I hated it. People found me weird, strange and some avoid me. After I joined the school dance group (which everyone was surprised), I learned I enjoyed trying out make up, I felt prettier, not a bad thing and being around friends was even better.
