Ultimately mainstream media has indoctrinated men into thinking that women have to look perfect at every possible angle and basically wear makeup 24/7 because men have forgotten what women look like without makeup. It's depressing seeing men make videos like this mocking women for "looking so different" at entirely different angles, without makeup, false eyelashes, hair styled as well as in unflattering angles and poses. The expectations placed on women are so much higher than those placed on men. A guy can have a shower, dry their hair and just walk out the door no problem. I can't go to work without wearing mascara without a man asking if I'm tired or unwell. Simply because they're so used to seeing women with a makeup on. It's so depressing and disheartening. Thankfully I'm much more confident without makeup on than I used to be and appreciate that the consumption of mainstream media has warped mens expectations of beauty in women. I'm grateful that I've always been told by past partners that I look pretty without makeup, but men always react more when you wear makeup. Maybe if society treat female beauty standards the same as mens then women wouldn't feek like they have to make themselves look "so different" as you put it. I get you made a disclaimer and that's really nice but ultimately these videos still point out the huge difference in expectations in feminine and masculine beauty. I know you don't have a bad bone in your body and just speaking honestly and I do respect that.

A lot of these girls are naturally beautiful without the makeup. None of us are born with perfectly styled hair, highlighter that catches the sun and makes our skin sparkle, matte poreless skin, etc. A couple of them though.... it's not that they are ugly. I think we all have a unique beauty. But they are a TOTALLY different person using filters. It's one thing to use makeup to enhancer your beauty. It's another to use filters and makeup to become a different person. That should only be done for special effects in movies. Not relationships.

What I love about this trend is that it emphasize the line between produced/makeuped/filtered themselves and day-to-day normal themselves really naturally. I mean, I know it's kinda silly because it's hard to not spot eyeliner and dark red lipstick, but we're still shocked to realize that they do look different without makeup, we ended up internalizing this hyper version as their normal so badly that we're shocked with their normal. They're not ugly though, they're pretty, but just... they don't look so "ethereal", and they look kinda like us without all that.

In regards to hair for Black women, they spend HOURS straightening it and it's a pain in the arrrrrse. I only know because I have asked someone about it because I too was curious, their hair does that normally, and in order to get it super straight they spend hours doing it so personally, I think that's still "them" just with effort. Make up I feel is different than styling your hair.
